Feeling overwhelmed from the outpouring of love and support I’ve received since my story on Ukrainian salons was published yesterday on @allure (which you can read in the #linkinbio). As we approach the 2-year anniversary of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, it’s never been more important to share Ukrainian voices and highlight their experiences, which was my ultimate goal with this piece. They are struggling and suffering and fighting for all of us and this needs to not be forgotten.

It’s why I want to thank all of the incredible Ukrainians who both shared their stories and helped make this story a reality. It was a community effort with some of the strongest, most amazing people I’ve ever met.

First and foremost, thank you to @olenkamartynyuk, my co-reporter who I’m so grateful agreed to come on to this project. She helped with all of the interviews, transcriptions, and you can listen to her translation of the story that has now gone live on site.

Thank you to @klimmarie for inspiring this story. If it wasn’t for her visit to @365studio.kyiv last year, I would have never learned about the extraordinary efforts salons were taking in order to stay open and serve customers. And to @alyonaponomarenko, who helped introduce me to Ukraine’s beauty scene and shared her experiences and reflections on the industry that were integral to making this story a reality.

Having worked in beauty my entire career, I was so blessed to be surrounded by some of the BEST in the business on my wedding day. Thank you to my amazing friend @vincentoquendo for my makeup and @valeriebenavides for my hair. I’m also so grateful for @alanaschmidtmakeup, one of my oldest and dearest friends, who did my mom and sister’s makeup, and @kumikohair who did their hair. You made us all feel so beautiful and made sure our day started surrounded by so much joy (and calm!).

Also, a HUGE thank you to @sammcknight1 for graciously opening up his studio to us that morning. The team used all @hairbysammcknight products, which are not only ultra-luxe but also filled the room with their beautiful scent. 🌹🌺🌻🌺 Vincent used a mix of products, including @victoriabeckhambeauty @chanel.beauty @hourglasscosmetics and @lauragellerbeauty
