Today to kick off my celebration of Human Voices Only Day, I’m sharing a snippet from the USA TODAY bestseller book The Ivory City by Emily Bain Murphy @emilybainmurphy

This historical fiction new release from @hachetteus @hachetteaudio (Audiiobook produced by @bespoke_audioworks ) is a mesmerising, suspenseful & romantic journey that a group of friends undergo at the St Louis World’s Fair in 1904.

Sizzling, glamorous and rich with historic detail, you’re whipped into this vividly drawn world.

Hope you enjoy this snippet!

Thanks for tuning in! Share with all your friends & colleagues! Remember to support human voices, and let companies touting AI crap know they’re not wanted in our creative spaces!

From bad ass mercenary to battlefield doctor, afterlife engineer, arena presenter, spoiled princess and Queen of the Underworld...I thought it was about time some of my favourite gaming characters had a home together. So, I'm delighted to share my visual gaming reel! Featuring:

Mikola @afkjourneyofficial @farlight84_official. I got to revisit my high school cheerleading skills with this one! Produced with @chatterboxvoices.

Mimi @deexit.game @sandbloomstudio. I adore Mimi and this game's stunning artwork. Thanks @omuk_london and @voicefox_voiceover_agency.

Persephone @prim_adventure @jonas_inhuman @ljkryten. Featuring me doing my finest Transatlantic accent, I loved every second of bringing Persephone to life in this hilariously dark, creepy and very cute game.

Peggy - Another character I played in AFK Journey. Lotta fun playing this sassy little devil!

Dr Kate @firstdescendant @nexongames_official I had a great time working with @soundswilde and @liquidvioletuk for this one!!

Sabine @eiyudenchronicle @505_games One Hundred Heroes was my first ever project with the incredible gang at @pitstopproductions !

Canna #Undecember @linegames One of my first gaming characters - Canna brings all the emotions!

Thanks for early birthday fun, pals! Was brilliant to finish the work week a day early with the excellent gang at @pitstopproductions so that I could spend pretty much all day today at the beach. It. Was. Glorious. And something I’ve been dying to have time for for months!

Thanks for my cake, dinner & gorgeous catch up time with my crafty ladies @kategpayne @lisa_m_coia & Mareen!

And my morning swim & beach brekkie buddy @zoeh.a 🏊‍♀️ ☀️

And sunset swim with the Seaford clan. The moon was also incredible! 🤩

🚨QOTD on Slide 2 Caption🚨

BLURB:
New librarian Amelia Bates can see ghosts, but when restless spirits wreak havoc in the library, she must help them move on before the building’s destroyed.

REVIEW:
This is my first read from Auralee Wallace, and the cover/blurb grabbed my attention, and it sounded perfect for spooky season. I noticed that Stephanie Cannon, a narrator I’ve really enjoyed before, was narrating the audio, so I decided to do an immersive read. I loved the straightforward writing, charming characters, and beautiful seaside setting in Prince Edward Island. This is a cosy paranormal mystery with a small dose of romance, exploring themes of overcoming fears, letting go of the past, loneliness, & self-forgiveness.

The story is told from the POV of protagonist Amelia, and we jump right into her world as she heads to an interview at a historic old library. She has the ability to see ghosts, but ignores them as she doesn’t want them to know she can see them.

The story introduces its small cast of characters quickly, including Rosalinda, a charming woman who interviews Amelia. Rosalinda’s convinced that Amelia’s a perfect fit, but Simon, the head librarian, is much more skeptical. Amelia quickly spots three ghosts in the library, but she ignores them and hides the fact that she can see ghosts.

The story takes off when the ghosts suspects that Amelia can see them and become determined to get her attention. Without giving anything else away, the story shifts into a paranormal race-against-time mystery. I loved the magical realism element of the library itself being sentient, and it proves to have a mind of its own as the story unfolds!

🚨 CONTINUED ON NEXT SLIDE WITH QOTD!

Even though the story isn’t overly intricate, there were enough interesting paranormal elements and emotional threads to keep me immersed & invested in the characters. I enjoyed the ghosts and learning about their histories and reasons for being stuck in the library. Amelia’s growing connection with the ghosts and VERY slow-burn connection with by @sparkthecannon

Narrating this series was such a fulfilling experience. @natashaderouchiewrites paints stories with such raw honesty, I feel like I’ve lived in the mountains with all these characters.

It’s a wild ride and I ain’t gonna lie, some of it is gonna tear at your heartstrings big time. But it’ll be well worth it, promise! 🥹 🥰

Thanks @podiumentertainment for your production and having me on board. And thanks to Natasha for entrusting me with such a beautiful journey.

Look out for books 2 & 3 soon!
