It’s been really interesting to watch my journalism background evolve into something bigger than I originally imagined. What I built in media was never just about being on camera. It was about story. Presence. Trust. Knowing how to lead a conversation. Knowing how to pull something meaningful out of people. Knowing how to help someone communicate clearly without losing who they are in the process. That’s why I’m really excited to officially share that I’m now in a brand partnership with Speakerbox Media. I’ll be joining Owned & Earned as a host and contributor, and I’ll also be working with clients in a way that feels deeply aligned with what I care most about: helping people communicate their value, lead strong conversations, and show up with real authority. What makes this especially meaningful is that Speakerbox gets it. They understand the value of owned media. They understand the shift that’s happening. Sooo…this happened last week. As a producer, people always ask me what I listen to. One of the first shows that always comes to mind is The Jay Shetty Podcast. I’ve followed @jayshetty and @radhidevlukia for years. Not just because I love interview-style shows, but because of the calm, intentional way they move through the world. Their conversations feel real. Their values come through. And that’s what’s kept me coming back…learning from genuinely thoughtful people. So meeting them (actually standing there, talking with them) felt surreal. They were exactly who they’ve shown themselves to be online: warm, grounded, kind, and present. Some people are born to take risks. I wasn’t one of them. I’m managerial, Type A, calculated, and risk-averse. Ray is the opposite: creative, fearless, and always willing to try before anyone else sees the vision. In our late twenties, we were at a crossroads. He was an audio engineer who didn’t want to be a mechanical engineer. I was a photographer at heart who didn’t want to be a pharmacist. We kept our day jobs while I went back to business school. In my final semester, we used my capstone project to research a media company idea we called Speakerbox Media. By the end, we realized nothing like it existed in Texas. That’s when we knew we had to try. In 2018, in the spare bedroom of our house, with $500, we launched Speakerbox. Seven years later we’ve: • 5,000× our original investment • 40× our studio space • Added 10 incredible team members • Created thousands of media pieces for world-class executives and brands God has been so good, and over time I’ve realized more and more I was born to do this.
