What an extraordinary experience it was to be a part of the HTX Leadership Forum’s Luncheon: Rising & Inspiring HTX VCs! Their mission to Inspire, Equip, & Connect the next generation of Houston's Innovators and Business Leaders is truly brought to life at these remarkable events. 🚀

As a native Houstonian and emerging fund manager, our Founder and CEO, @StaciLaToison had the privilege of sharing her story and insights alongside the amazing @DrSunnyZ, Founder of Born Global Ventures. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with our community and impart the knowledge they've gained along their respective journeys into venture capital.🤝💼

They spoke passionately about their journeys, emphasizing the importance of founders becoming funders, and making opportunities for ourselves and for others. Sunny, with her unique perspective as a college professor and entrepreneurial prowess, added immense value to the event, sharing data about Houstonians and the impact of immigrants in the US. 📈 They also discussed the power of collaboration in Silicon Valley and in Houston and the significance of fostering connections within the business and startup ecosystem.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to @IAm_SarahSmith, Board Member and Mentor at the HTX Leadership Forum and Co-Founder and CEO of Speakerbox Media for inviting me to be part of this event and for moderating this conversation. To the entire HTX Leadership Forum team - your commitment to nurturing leadership and innovation is truly commendable, and I am honored to have been a part of such an impactful gathering. 🙏❤️

To all the remarkable individuals who attended the luncheon, thank you for your enthusiasm & engagement. Remember - you have what it takes and now is the best time to build! Huge thanks to the @TheCoffeeHouseHTX for opening up your space to the community. Let’s continue to Inspire, Equip, & Connect, and I’m excited to witness the incredible accomplishments that lie ahead. ✨

We're kicking off our week at @TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco with a captivating discussion on Latinas at the Forefront of Tech hosted by @LatinxStartups @LSA_Global and @SHACK15!

Despite accounting for 16% of the female labor force, their representation remains underestimated and underutilized.

With over 9 million Latinas under 18 and 26 million+ over 18 in the U.S. Hispanic population, they represent the largest economic opportunity for the country.

Amidst running nearly 2 million businesses nationwide, Latina founders receive less than 2% of venture capital funds, while Latinas in venture capital are even scarcer.

This discussion will shed light on the experience and potential of Latina founders, new emerging fund managers, and the initiatives creating pathways for Latinas in tech as the next generation of innovators.

Excited to hear from these powerhouse panelists:

Laura Lucas, General Partner, L'ATTITUDE VENTURES

Michelle Dhansinghani, Growth Stage Investor and Co-Founder of VC Unleashed

Mariela Salas, Executive Director, SomosVC

Veronica Juarez, Emerging General Partner - Newfund

Jesse Martinez, Founder & CEO, LSA Global HQ & Latinx Startup Alliance

and Moderator, Sarah Smith, Co-Founder & CEO, Speakerbox Media

🙏🏽Title Sponsor: J.P. Morgan

Sponsors: Haynes and Boone, LLP, Dhalia VC, VamosVentures, Trez (Techstars ‘23)

Partners: Crunchbase, BluePeople, Wokee

Community Partners: Ion Houston, SomosVC, Latinx MBA Association, Lazo, Dream Big Ventures LLC, Goodspero
