It’s definitely a process, but the speaking business is STILL growing, and I’m grateful every chance I get to see our speakers grow.

What is the first step to James stabilizing his career:

My BIG goal for the night was to congratulate the graduates of the program. How did I congratulate?

I drew the blueprint for the 3 deposits that they have to make while the escrow is still building.

Skills. (Jobs and Industries are changing because of AI)
People. (Underrated personal investment)
Proof. (Evidence builds receipts)

Most people see prisons as the end of the story.

I see unrealized potential, a bunch of daydreamers, and people trying to rebuild their lives in systems that often make that difficult.

It was definitely difficult for me!! (Sometimes it still is… 🫣)

I’m in Utah this week to speak inside two state prisons about personal branding, entrepreneurship, and navigating our digital economy before they come home. I want these skills to be a part of their every day conversations.

The future belongs to people who know how to communicate, adapt, and create opportunity and that shouldn’t exclude justice-impacted communities.

What am I doing in Chicago today??

I’m visiting the Crossroads Adult Treatment Center, and hopefully meeting my next entrepreneurial friends.

I always share that there’s no shortage of brilliance in our nation’s prisons…just a shortage of access and social capital.

Well, these men are coming home soon, and I want to help to prepare them for what’s next. Plus, our friends at Safer Foundation, some local employers, and a rack of family members are betting on them to win…so I’m hoping to help stack the deck for them.

I’m so grateful for Flikshop and Flikshop School of Business, but it’s this non-profit baby of mine, Perspectives Partnership, that’s opening doors for the next groups of scholars that I’m excited to introduce to the tech industry.

I can’t wait to meet the guys and even more excited to deposit into their dreams.

Myth: Non-Profit leaders that support reentry cannot thrive during this era of funding pull-backs.

There are so many amazing innovators who are leading with intention, finding ways to leverage digital tools, and especially building collaborations that will prove the power of community…when we need it the most.

I’m here to point toward singular data points that combat this myth, and I’m bringing the conversation and resources with me to Raleigh. ✊🏿🧡

I give talks around the world, and most times they are centered around what we’ve built at @flikshop, @flikshopschool and @perspectivespartnership

But more recently I’ve started to educate executive leadership, large associations that center technology in their work, and business schools around the best ways to leverage AI in the digital economy while ALSO keeping humans at the center of our work.

There are so many roles that will evolve over the coming years, and how we think about building human-intelligence that leverages #ArtificialIntelligence to build the tech that sustains and thrives will be the differentiator in business.

Yes…I prepare for virtual keynotes too!!

How did I prepare for this talk:

1️⃣ I did a bit of research around the Global Agile Summit and the attendees. This helped with crafting my language. (Folks like to hear their own technical vernacular within talks.)

2️⃣ I created my “5 Chapters of my Talk” to help guide my conversation. TSL speakers LOVE this, as it helps us remember our most powerful steps to the closing finish line.

3️⃣ I imagined what a Q&A could look like, and the things the audience would ask me. (I used ChatGPT for this.) Then I thought through my answers and weaved them intentionally into my talk.

I PROMISE to crush every stage I step on; but the only way for me to guarantee this to myself is to prepare.

I can’t believe that I’m producing a film…and now I’ve been invited to Sundance Film Festival to debut our film’s trailer.

🤯

There are people that work their entire lives to be able to get their work featured or highlighted at Sundance. And now, through favor and blessings I get to be one of the ones that will be alongside the best film makers, industry experts, actors, and production houses in the world.

Our film “Bet on Me” tells the stories of our work to help bring 100k formerly incarcerated people into the tech industry, and the impact that these new careers will bring to their families.

I’ll be bringing the heat from the front of the room, alongside some friends Noella Sudbury, John Jackson, and Shelley Winner-Dupre.

Pleaee keep me in your prayers…as our next BIG supporter will probably be at this festival. I hope that I get a chance to meet them!! 🙏🏿🧡
