Imagine preparing somebody for the future of work…without letting them experience the future. 🤯

That’s one of the things I can’t stop thinking about.

We’re living in a world where AI is changing how people learn, work, build businesses, and make money.

Meanwhile, there are people sitting in prison trying to prepare for a world that’s moving faster than they can even see.

And here’s the part that gets me…

You can’t prepare somebody for a future you won’t let them practice for.

That’s why I’m so passionate about what we’re building with the Flikshop School of Business.

We gotta stop thinking about reentry as simply getting somebody a job.

Let’s start thinking about how we give people the tools to build a FUTURE.

Because the world isn’t slowing down while somebody serves their sentence.

And neither should their opportunity to learn. Thank you @glennemartin for hosting a week in Savannah where we can have space to reimagine effective leadership!!

Most people see prisons as the end of the story.

I see unrealized potential, a bunch of daydreamers, and people trying to rebuild their lives in systems that often make that difficult.

It was definitely difficult for me!! (Sometimes it still is… 🫣)

I’m in Utah this week to speak inside two state prisons about personal branding, entrepreneurship, and navigating our digital economy before they come home. I want these skills to be a part of their every day conversations.

The future belongs to people who know how to communicate, adapt, and create opportunity and that shouldn’t exclude justice-impacted communities.

✈️ Let’s get to work. If you’re in Utah let’s connect!! #Utah #SaltLakeCity #reentry #flikshop #DigitalEconomy

What am I doing in Chicago today??

I’m visiting the Crossroads Adult Treatment Center, and hopefully meeting my next entrepreneurial friends.

I always share that there’s no shortage of brilliance in our nation’s prisons…just a shortage of access and social capital.

Well, these men are coming home soon, and I want to help to prepare them for what’s next. Plus, our friends at Safer Foundation, some local employers, and a rack of family members are betting on them to win…so I’m hoping to help stack the deck for them.

I’m so grateful for Flikshop and Flikshop School of Business, but it’s this non-profit baby of mine, Perspectives Partnership, that’s opening doors for the next groups of scholars that I’m excited to introduce to the tech industry.

I can’t wait to meet the guys and even more excited to deposit into their dreams.

We built one of the most impactful apps in the App Store with @flikshop

Ed Hennings built the first Black-owned work boot company in the country with @edhenningsfootwork

We’re both coming to the Safer Foundation’s Carre Conference to talk about:

1️⃣ How and why we decided on entrepreneurship to hit our goals

2️⃣ What helped to create success in our business models

3️⃣ How we’re helping people get back to work with our companies and our influence

If you’re in Chicago, come pull up on us!! This one is going to be filled with dope people that are bringing REAL resources.

Hey Chi-town, I’m on my way… 🏃🏿‍♂️💨

Myth: Non-Profit leaders that support reentry cannot thrive during this era of funding pull-backs.

There are so many amazing innovators who are leading with intention, finding ways to leverage digital tools, and especially building collaborations that will prove the power of community…when we need it the most.

I’m here to point toward singular data points that combat this myth, and I’m bringing the conversation and resources with me to Raleigh. ✊🏿🧡

Let’s goooooo Bob Barker Foundation!! I’m on my way… 🏃🏿‍♂️💨

I give talks around the world, and most times they are centered around what we’ve built at @flikshop, @flikshopschool and @perspectivespartnership

But more recently I’ve started to educate executive leadership, large associations that center technology in their work, and business schools around the best ways to leverage AI in the digital economy while ALSO keeping humans at the center of our work.

There are so many roles that will evolve over the coming years, and how we think about building human-intelligence that leverages #ArtificialIntelligence to build the tech that sustains and thrives will be the differentiator in business.

I can’t wait to keynote the Global Agile Summit with tech leaders from around the world!!

This one is going to be 🔥🔥🔥. #KeynoteKilla #MarcusBullock #KeynoteSpeaker #PublicSpeaker

I can’t believe that I’m producing a film…and now I’ve been invited to Sundance Film Festival to debut our film’s trailer.

🤯

There are people that work their entire lives to be able to get their work featured or highlighted at Sundance. And now, through favor and blessings I get to be one of the ones that will be alongside the best film makers, industry experts, actors, and production houses in the world.

Our film “Bet on Me” tells the stories of our work to help bring 100k formerly incarcerated people into the tech industry, and the impact that these new careers will bring to their families.

I’ll be bringing the heat from the front of the room, alongside some friends Noella Sudbury, John Jackson, and Shelley Winner-Dupre.

Pleaee keep me in your prayers…as our next BIG supporter will probably be at this festival. I hope that I get a chance to meet them!! 🙏🏿🧡

Comment “Ticket” if you’re in Salt Lake City and I’ll send you a registration link.

QOTD: What do I do to get rid of my nervousness before a keynote?

We all get nervous, so here’s how I prepare. The BEST way to attack that noise in your head is to prepare as much as you can before taking stage.
