Bold yellow text on blue background reads, ‘My whole stance on this, as less than 3% of the population, I don’t think it’s right that 97% of australians are going to vote on us.

I think that’s racist.

If it was just Indigenous people voting, I would not have a problem because that’s us voting on our mob and our futures.

And that’s self determination to me.’ by @speakingtothevoice

Bold black text on white background reads, ‘Without Treaty, the Voice to Parliament could work against real change in this country. It gives the public the idea that First Nations people are being ‘heard’, without stopping the State’s violence against our communities.’ by @speakingtothevoice

Bold black text on green background reads, ‘We should be at the decision making table, not passing notes through the window.
The Voice proposal shores up the right of whites to govern; and Aboriginal people, a right to be governed.’ by @speakingtothevoice

Bold black text on red background reads, ‘We are witnessing what happens when we express doubt, raise questions, and make statements as sovereign Blackfullas.
We are witnessing what happens when Blackfullas refuse proximity to settler institutions, to speak to the interests of one’s nations, and to the generations who will follow long after they are gone.
We are witnessing the violence of Black reform right now in the vote yes campaign.
A campaign promoting an Indigenous voice to parliament, while casting sovereign Blackfullas as radical, fringe, marginal, as a minority that doesn’t matter, or worse, at odds with progress.
The yes campaign, in its strategy, reveals the very real dangers associated with enshrining a voice to parliament.
To enshrine a voice that in this moment is silencing and domesticating the diverse voices of sovereign Black nations across this continent offers more concern than it does hope for the future.
What is the point of a voice, if we cannot tell the truth of how power is operating in this place, and most significantly, speak of our own power as Blackfullas.
I am not accepting the lie that it’s now or never, or that a seat at their table is the best that’s on offer. I’m not entertaining that what the political left offers is better than the overt racism of the right.’ by @speakingtothevoice

Bold black and red text on yellow background reads, ‘Setting aside the serious questions around the legitimacy of the ‘voice’ proposal, a more important question should be:
“Are the majority of australians sufficiently cognisant of australian history to enable them to make an informed decision on how they should vote in the referendum?”
I suggest the answer is a resounding NO.’ by @speakingtothevoice

Tile 1: Bold pale blue text on blue background reads, ‘There’s been no consent. There’s been no free, prior and informed consent.

There’s got to be proper consultations right across the board, with all nations, with all Lore people.

You can’t just deal with a hand picked group of people and say they are a representative body.’
•
Tile 2: ‘Never spoke about the atrocities. The massacres, the land theft, the murders, the genocide, the ethnic cleansing, the racism that [forms the basis of] this whole colonial system.

These are the questions.
That’s the voice we wanna hear.’ by @speakingtothevoice

Bold black text on white background reads, ‘When the counting is done, the constitution amended and the voice mechanism in place, [settlers on] both sides will be in the exact same place they were before it all started: living carefree in stolen lands.’ by @speakingtothevoice

Tile 1: Bold white text in green background reads, ‘(Please note: the views I’m about to express on the voice referendum are my own and not a reflection of my workplace or anyone else but myself).
This past year, I’ve taken in the information from both the yes and no and the unsure sides. I’ve read, I’ve watched, I’ve yarned, I’ve listened, I’ve debated, I’ve thought deeply about it all.’
•
Tile 2: ‘I come from a long line of Bama (Rainforest Aboriginal People). My Ancestors never ceded their sovereignty, instead they were pushed off their land, traumatised, sent away, had their rights stripped.
Everything my mob have been through shows me that in 2023 we deserve more, so I’ve voted no on my postal vote.’
•
Tile 3: ‘I can’t settle for less than what our people deserve. I don’t trust that this voice will be a ‘step in the right direction’ when we’ve been too-toeing around as a nation for centuries now!
I know better than to trust a colonial system that has done nothing but oppress my people since they landed on these shores 250+ years ago and I’m not about to trust they’ll do the right thing by us now!
•
Tile 4: ‘And with all due respect, I don’t want ‘good intentions’ from my non-Indigenous friends with your ‘yes’ votes.
If you really want change for my mob and I, then give us our land back! Pay back the stolen wages that built this country! Implement the recommendations of every royal commission that mentions our people and our suffering!
•
Tile 5: ‘I can’t and I won’t accept crumbs in the form of a powerless advisory board from the government and a group of mob that don’t speak for me as Bama!
I won’t beg to be seen or heard by no colonising government or settler on their terms and I won’t be spoken on behalf of when I have my own voice and I’m not afraid to use it!
•
Tile 6: ‘I also don’t wish to be recognised in the constitution: a white document established from the ILLEGAL occupation of Aboriginal Lands!
By voting no, I do so as a Sovereign Rainforest Woman! My vote in this referendum is my voice, a voice of self determination and one I’ll continue to use after 14 October to advocate for the rights of my people!’ by @speakingtothevoice
