A busy few days powered by joy… let’s really shout about those moments.

Listening to the lady who ended my hair trauma and friend @charlottemensah talk about the ‘modern salon’ and her iconic journey, moderated by the wonderful @funmifetto filled me with immense joy. As always in Charlotte’s company I discovered new things, made meaningful connections and felt a sense of joy that always happens when you’re in her environment. Her exhibition is stunning and a must-see.

Saturday was spent with friends - no pictures apart from the kids photographed as 🐧 as @katyyoungbeauty got to hang.

Today, I was inspirational and powered by creativity. I’m three quarters through my latest #comedyscript and had to stop to see my friend and #writer/director @deanleonanderson talk about his shadow director experience on the @bbc #drama ‘The Cuty is Ours’ - series two out on October 6th! The evening wrapped up with eight insanely brilliant short films - two of which were written and produced by friends @milly_james @romainereid_. A fitting tribute to Danielle Scott-Haughton who received the Impact Award. Surrounded by a room full of black creators and supporters is electric. Quite the Sunday!

I’m thrilled to announce I am one of the top 5 finalists in the From Page to Proof x @the_writers_lab initiative with my original script – ‘Better the Devil.’ I’m hugely excited to be part of this development scheme with The Writers Lab and the LA-based @getitmade.la team - I’m already learning so much about how to develop and work on my script for the US market.

The Writers Lab Announcement:
“After an intensive search and an incredible inaugural submission season, we’re thrilled to finally unveil the five selected screenwriters for our From Page to Proof initiative. These writers (and their exceptional projects) demonstrate the kind of unique vision and storytelling craft that this program was built to champion.

Wendy Dann - The Jury (Drama Series)
Laure Eve - Devil Glass (Horror Feature)
Catherine Loerke - Plus One (Comedy Series)
Betsy Nagler - She Done It (Comedy-Thriller Feature)
Stephanie Pearce - Better the Devil (Supernatural Series)

This cohort is embarking on a dedicated development phase with getitmade GET IT MADE producers, who will work hand-in-hand with each finalist to refine their Proof of Concept (POC) scripts and elevate their projects to be fully market-ready. In the coming weeks, we will also be announcing the Director who will join the journey and lead the selection of the POC that will move into production.”

The Writers Lab is supported by Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Cate Blanchett.

Three years ago I decided to follow my dream… dreams aren’t made overnight but over the past few years I’ve met some amazing people, had more rejections than I know what to do with and I’ve filled my soul and mind with words and narrrative. It feels like it’s only beginning so why not follow me on my journey and you can all say you remembered when I was starting out.

The thing about dreams is that they’re messy, challenging and hard to achieve as you navigate real life and your commitments, but I’m here for it… hope you are too!

Grabbing an hour to read this excellent book from #philipshelley whilst I wait for my daughter to finish gymnastics. It’s all about balance.
