I always reach for the tiny steel hooks and threads when I need a 'pick-me-up'. Doilies, like butterflies, may not be useful but the joy and beauty they bring is beyond compare.

Over the past year, every list of 'must read' fiction seems to include Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep. And though I have read plenty of detective fiction and Noir, Chandler's books have never figured in the books I have read or wanted to read.
I am almost midway through The Big Sleep and feel that I have stepped back in time to the era of Paul Drake and cigarette smoking, hard-boiled private detectives. The book is very representative of the genre and at times racism, sexism and mild homophobia are very apparent.
I would probably have enjoyed this much more when in school and less critical in general.

Irony
When you are trying to thread the needle you never find the eye, and then when you put away your work for the night, the waste thread from the edge decides to crawl into the eye on it's own. 😁

Though I am sure there is a life lesson hidden in that.

The year that was......
It's been a memorable year in so many ways. From getting a clean PET result in January leading to an year filled with family gatherings, weddings, temple visits, a much dreamed of Sabarimala visit, a dream 2 month stay with son in the UK, to ending the year welcoming a new baby into the family. Not to forget winning a dream hamper from @heartbeatsyarns
After debating with myself for months about talking about my Cancer and life after treatment I decided to end the year breaking the self imposed silence.
I just want to tell anyone going through treatment or coming to terms with the diagnosis that, though the journey is difficult, there is always light and hope at the end of the tunnel.
I was humbled at every step by the sheer number of people praying for me, sending me good wishes and virtually holding my hand through all the difficult days and weeks.
We are stronger than we think. And more loved than we realise.

Over the past year I have realised how blessed I am to be surrounded by people (family and friends) who care deeply and show it in a million different ways.
I received this fabulous bag from @merryamethyst a few days before we were to leave for a short trip to Patna.
Lovingly made and perfectly finished, it's the perfect travel bag to carry.
I am actually lost for words and have no way of expressing all the emotions that I have been feeling everytime I carry the bag.

Aaaaand ......drum rolls please... It's a win!
So all those who were sitting on the edge of the seat wondering what happened... It's a happy ending.

Have been on silent mode for a very long time, coming back with nail biting suspense an edge of the seat thriller ...will I, won't I... win at yarn chicken (I know, by rights it should be thread chicken)
It's a doozy of a round and I just hope I don't have to work out again!
