Through collaboration, anything is possible. When collectives unite, we combine our strengths to continue building the underground scene that we all love so dearly. @alpineundrgrnd bros @bodhii_dj and @smooth_yeti are gracing us with just a hint of why they have been popping off lately. The Avon, Colorado boys, Rocky and Holden, are incredibly talented DJs with a deep knowledge of the underground. Meeting in skydiving school back in 2019, they are avid mountain shredders in the winter, while in the summer, they are busy planning and curating festival spaces for artists to be able to best express themselves. Building quite the resume this year, they worked at @building.man.festival, @apogaea, @riahtfest, @badgermusicfestival, creating immersive electronic music experiences, providing sound, lights, and DJ equipment across the Vail Valley, Colorado and beyond. Later this month, you can catch them teaming up with @sound.dunes.production to open a portal out in Green River, Utah at Jenkstar Ranch for Electric Desert Invasion. @lowfrequencyoperations is a Western Colorado based collective and not for profit label focused on underground bass music and sound system culture, building community around both. Since getting started in 2021, they’ve continued growing their roster, hosting events, and putting out music from artists across the Four Corners region and beyond. 100% of the royalties and proceeds generated by each release go directly back to the artists. The team handles the artwork, distribution, and promotion, giving artists a low stress way to put music out while keeping their focus on creating. Their roster and sound are constantly evolving, with plenty of release taken in The Black Box by @spicy.ot

ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS 🐙 ↳ Get to know some of the artists! 🍄 Deacon Blu is the owner of Nyx Productions. He is also the sound Engineer for Stupid Happy Collective. Listening to music and the emotions he experienced developed his love for the art. He picked up a guitar when he was twelve years old, playing music ranging from metal to folk. Eventually he came across the EDM scene. The love of the community engulfed him and inspired him to become a DJ, playing small venues to big events. His biggest accomplishment as an artist is headlining the 2017 Deadwood Mountain Grand New Years Eve Ball Drop. Donovan Schmidt is the artist behind one of the Midwests most avant-garde and creatively inspired projects, HeDawn. An experienced DJ with roots in chopped-and-screwed hip-hop, HeDawn has taken the dark and lumbering tones made famous by the late DJ Screw to an extreme and impressive conclusion: an experimental, bass-heavy collage of sounds that resembles no other artist. HeDawn includes audio-visual elements, original production, and highly manipulated bass music to reflect the projects namesake, a sensory-buffet that would appeal to the modern “HeDawnist.” HeDawn continues to push boundaries, striving to create an ever-more-immersive experience that plays with exchanges of energy between artist and community, performer and audience, the self and the other. Spicy OT is a rising force in the Black Hills bass music scene and a true favorite in the making. DJing for the past year and playing sets frequently around the Black Hills, he has begun releasing music more recently and brings raw 140 BPM underground dubstep and relentless high-pressure bass that hits straight to the soul. A new member of the Stupid Happy family, he delivers passionate, chest-rattling sets filled with pure bass energy that leaves crowds buzzing — just don’t forget your earplugs. by @spicy.ot
