Music stores are more than places where you buy strings.

They’re places where you argue about bands with strangers, try a tiny bass, learn about a boutique pedal maker, talk gear for way too long, and maybe walk out with a guitar strap covered in white roses because it reminds you of Leeds.

On a recent trip to Peterborough, I stopped into Maar’s Music and got a reminder of why local music shops matter.

Marcus and I talked gear, venues, Angine de Poitrine, Godin’s wild custom double-neck, Supercool Pedals, Beef Boys and pretty much everything in between.

It felt less like shopping and more like hanging out with a neighbour.

Support your local music shops.

They’re more than stores.
