For the cover of ELLE Magazine (@elleusa), twin artist duo Elliot & Erick Jiménez (@elliotanderick) shot Karol G (@karolg). The twins leaned on their signature painterly photography aesthetic to create a universe that encapsulated Karol. The universe was informed by magical realism, a literary and artistic style that blends everyday reality with fantastical, dreamlike elements treated as if they were perfectly ordinary.

They were especially interested in Gabriel García Márquez, the Colombian novelist widely considered the father of magical realism. Best known for “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” Márquez treated extraordinary events, ghosts, prophecies, characters who live for centuries, as unremarkable facts of daily life, blurring the line between the real and the fantastical. That same sensibility runs through the shoot: Karol G moves through scenes that feel mystical and dreamlike, yet are treated with the same ease and gravity as reality itself. by @spinelloprojects

@ElliotandErick Jiménez have emerged as distinctive voices in contemporary photography, developing a visual language deeply informed by cultural heritage, spirituality, and a vivid sense of imagination. The Cuban-American twins produce striking, meticulously constructed images that draw from fine art, fashion, and Afro-Caribbean traditions, weaving together myth, memory, and symbolism with remarkable clarity.

Their acclaimed exhibition ‘El Monte’ at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (@pamm) marked a pivotal moment in their career, while presentations at @thebassmoa and @themodernfw have further solidified their position within the contemporary art landscape. Their portrait of Bad Bunny for TIME’s first Spanish-language cover also underscored their growing influence on the global cultural stage.

Nina Surel Receives Inaugural Acquisition by Oolite Arts’ SHE Collective

We are delighted to announce that Nina Surel’s diptych, I Hear a Cooing and Free Bird, I Can Swerve and I Can Swoop, has been acquired by Oolite Arts and the SHE Collective.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The acquisition marks a significant milestone for both the artist and the SHE Collective, whose long-term vision is to build a collection that will ultimately be donated to a museum. The diptych will be presented during the VIP & Donor Hour of Sites of the Self, curated by René Morales, at Oolite Arts on July 8.

Founded to advance the careers of Oolite Arts alumni while fostering dialogue and engagement among its members, the SHE Collective selected Surel’s work through a member-led voting process. Receiving the highest number of votes, the diptych becomes one of the Collective’s inaugural acquisitions, underscoring its commitment to championing the work of Oolite Arts alumni and supporting their long-term careers.

☕️✨ Opening June 25th at the Perez Art Museum Miami: Held in Layers: Selections from @pamm Collection, featuring Clara Varas’ The Altar, organized by @jennifer__inacio, PAMM Curator

Held in Layers brings together a selection of contemporary paintings from PAMM’s collection, all of which are being presented for the first time. The exhibition offers a focused look at how painting is being approached today across a range of practices, highlighting diverse techniques, materials, and methods to image-making. From abstraction to works that engage figuration and objecthood, each painting reflects a distinct approach—foregrounding decisions around surface, structure, and process. Seen together, these works invite close looking. They draw attention to how paintings are built, revised, and resolved, offering insight into the varied languages contemporary painters employ. By bringing these works into view, the exhibition creates space to encounter painting in its current moment through the diversity of practices represented in the museum’s collection. Presenting artists are Lucy Bull, Tomm El-Saieh, Justine Hill, Paulo Nimer Pjota, and Clara Varas.

“Miami has always felt like a threshold to me — a city where cultures arrive, overlap,
and transform. With Lunar Bodies (Sisters of the Moon), I wanted to honor that
liminality. The mermaids act as a bridge between land and space, as protectors holding
the memory of everyone who comes through this land.”
Blending historical, mythological, and natural elements, Lunar Bodies (Sisters of the
Moon) at the newly inaugurated PS Terminal at Miami International Airport evokes
Florida’s unique ecology and lore.
A Stoneware Bas Relief Mural of interlocking ceramic tiles and series of reimagined
mosaiced reflecting pools from the site’s original design. Featuring symbolic patterns, the
work continues Surel’s practice of reimagining ancient myths through a contemporary
lens. Honoring the sacred feminine, ritual, and craft are integral elements of her work. At
the center of the bas relief mural, mermaids reference Afro-Caribbean and Mediterranean
folklore, reflecting Miami’s position as a geographic crossroads while imbuing the site with
benevolent tidings for travelers.
This artwork is part of the collection of Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places

Congratulations to Naama Tsabar on the recent acquisition of her work by Hamburger Bahnhof – National Gallery for Contemporary Art following her 2024 solo exhibition, Estuaries. ✨

The museum has acquired Work on Felt (Variation 22) Dark Blue (2023), Inversion #6 (2021), and Inversion #4 (2021). Inversion #4 will be included in the upcoming collection rehang, opening 12 June 2026 as part of A Thousand Times Berlin.

Blurring sculpture, sound, and performance, Tsabar’s Work on Felt series transforms raw felt into playable, evolving instruments. The tension of the strings shapes both the form and the sound, so changes in pitch are directly reflected in the sculpture’s physical state. Each work is activated through interaction, inviting audiences to engage with it as both object and instrument.

Her Inversions series extends this dialogue into architecture, activating hidden spaces within walls. Inspired by the acoustics of instrument sound holes, these works respond to touch and movement, producing layered sonic environments drawn from field recordings of Brood X cicadas and vocal elements.

Demeter, (The Birth Of Florida), 2026
Incorporating Art Deco architectural forms, ornamental motifs, and stylized representations of waves, Nina Surel’s ceramic mural envisions Florida’s birth through a mythic, feminine lens. The composition features a central human figure that embodies Florida as a fertile goddess, encircled by palm trees, an alligator, a roseate spoonbill, and other native flora and fauna. Linked to mythological archetypes like Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest, agriculture, and fertility, Surel’s work underscores her interest in mysticism, botany, and humanity’s connection to nature.

In contrast to historical narratives of European conquest—specifically, Juan Ponce de León’s 1513 expedition—Surel reframes Florida’s origin as one grounded in birth and fertility, shifting the focus towards coexistence and ecological interdependence.
The mural’s unglazed, sandy surface evokes the texture of a sandcastle, referencing the state’s shores. Building on the themes in her earlier work, Surel depicts the peninsula as a generative presence intrinsically linked to the environment that sustains her. The work invites viewers into a symbolic geography where past, present, and future converge, and the divine feminine emerges as a source of knowledge, care, and continuity.
