The girl behind me said, “I need yoga.”

I turned around and said, “I’m a yoga teacher. I got you.”

No mats. No yoga clothes. Just a little patch of airport carpet and a bunch of strangers who needed to move.

Yoga doesn’t require perfection. A studio. Or a matching set.

The part I love most? Meeting yourself—and each other—exactly where you are.

And on this 21st night of September, where we were was Gate C120. 🧘‍♀️✈️

It’s one of those sneaky milestones where suddenly six years collapse into a single moment.

In the blink of an eye, the woman who sent that long haired little boy with a shark backpack half his size into kindergarten, became the woman who held back tears as he walked across the stage today - headed for middle school.

Between those two moments:

a thousand lunches packed, papers signed, bedtime stories, hard conversations, belly laughs, heartbreaks, victories, and ordinary Tuesdays.

The distance between us never grew.

Only his legs.

Now his wings.

This is the impossible bargain of parenthood.

The hand you’ve held a thousand times slips away a little sooner.

The kiss goodbye becomes a hug. Then a wave.

You celebrate every inch of their independence while quietly grieving every version of them that no longer needs you in the same way.

And somehow, this love asks you to do both at once.

To hold on
And let go.

To miss who they were
And fall in love with who they’re becoming.

Today I didn’t just see a fifth grader graduate.

I saw every version of him that got him there.

And every version of me, too.

Sometimes you meet someone and they just slam right into your heart.

Two people living parallel lives, completely unaware of each other. And then one day, there they are.

I think about how many people we pass through this life without ever really knowing. And how extraordinary it is that, every once in a while, someone finds their way into our world and leaves an imprint that has absolutely nothing to do with how long they’ve been there.

Time is funny. Impact doesn’t wait.

Ocean air. A volcano under our feet. Dinners that turn into hours of laughing.

Everybody loves to hate the thing that brings the uncomfortable shit to the surface.
