We’ve been biking in the hills of Sardinia which feel like giant mountains to me even on an e-bike but it’s all gorgeous. The food is yummy and Mike gets to eat gelato every day. Or some days I eat mussels and he opts for Tiramisu. Olive has been traveling on Mikes back. taken in Castelsardo, Sardegna, Italy by @spoonfullofyoga

We hiked down through gorgeous wind and water carved rock formations to a hidden pocket beach. The water is so clear you can see right down to all the fish. It’s disconcertingly deep it’s so clear. This rock formation looks like a women reclining into the modified version of Supta eka padangustasana (reclined hand to foot pose). Rocks are yogis too 🙏 taken in Santa Teresa Gallura, Sardegna, Italy by @spoonfullofyoga

Day 4 had us biking through more farmland in scalding heat. We found a clear deep stream for Olive to paddle in and would have jumped in too if not for all the fuss of getting out of bike cloths. Were a bit saddle weary as the seats are beach cruiser style and not meant for multiple days of 50 mile rides. We went to the chateau Chenonceaux and loved strolling the grounds. The castle bridges the river and has a moat and at least 3 drawbridges. I found my way through the privet hedge maze. The hotel in the teeny tiny town is a gorgeous 18th century old inn updated with a pool and A/C. taken in Château de Chenonceau by @spoonfullofyoga

A trip is never complete unless something goes array. Today we rode through farmlands and vineyards winding through tiny villages chock full of roses. The roads were narrow cart paths in most places but sure enough cars were driving on them. When we ended up back in Chinon, we realized that the tour company hadn’t booked the hotels for us correctly. We had set it up ahead of time with to them to make the trip one less day. They said it was no problem but then didn’t remember to cancel today’s ride so our hotel at the end of the trip was 17 miles away. The tour company told us it was our fault but, of course, they did all the bookings. So, we got to ride the last 18 miles to the hotel in 89 degree heat. The silver lining is that today’s ride was the most beautiful so far and we would have missed it had they booked us correctly. We dunked Olive in the village fountain up to her ears and plopped her soaking wet into her backpack so she could survive the heat. Tomorrow we’ll be back on our normal schedule hopefully. taken in Vinea Loire Valley by @spoonfullofyoga

Day 2 of Biking in the Loire valley. We got out early as the temps are rising here up into the high 80’s. We pedaled thru acres of poppies and under shaded canopies of trees across miles of farmland. We stopped in Langais to see the castle and eat amazing pastry and also checked out some other castles along the way to Chinon. Chinon is very famous wine country but alas we don’t partake of the grape so we’ll have to settle for enjoying the vineyards from the (dis)comfort of our bike seats. Olive is liking the trip from the vantage of her pack. Sorry about the spasticity of the photos. My children expect nothing less than the worst. by @spoonfullofyoga

First day of our bike trip to the castles of the Loire river. Crazy long lines at immigration in Paris but survived to get a car. I slept like a hibernating bear while Mike somehow drove us to Blois. Today we biked to Tours through miles and miles of vineyards and farmland and tiny little towns with even tinier roads. The weather decided to get really hot suddenly so we’re decidedly overpacked. It is as lovely here as I remember it from many years ago. taken in Tours, Centre, France by @spoonfullofyoga

So we took a side trip to our The Cosmos Mystery Area that’s owned by our friend Jim where gravity is weird and all perception is askew. It makes the silver mine at Storyland seem tame in comparison. It was a blast. We loved it by @spoonfullofyoga

Went to see the presidents today as a quick side trip off the bike trail. Then to see the Crazy horse monument that’s been underway for years because it’s so gigantic. I guess if you want to honor someone it’s best to go really big. These monuments are so much more mind blowing in person. by @spoonfullofyoga
