Whale tails & Wildflowers curiously crafted from antique silver spoons, are some of the designs that will be on show from Artless Gallery at Sommers Bay by Jewellery designer & maker Angela Lowe as part of her Spoon Savvy jewellery collection
.
Discover the full collection of Spoon Savvy’s designs as featured weekly at Hoabart’s Salamanca Market
.
Angela and her family were Murdunna residents before the big bushfires of 2013 took their home and studio. This will be their first time back at the bay for the Forestier Art Trail, sharing their ever evolving collection of jewellery & homeware designs crafted from vintage and antique silverware & cutlery
.
Angela is also the curator & founder of Bylanders Collective, a local art & design collective launched bravely in 2020 from a little nook in Nubeena where the family now reside. Angela will be joined by her daughter Ella, fellow jewellery designer and market manger, and son Sage will grace us with some of his mesmerising songs from the Song & Story tent under the casurina tree at Artless Gallery over the weekend
.
Come scour the silverware (now gorgeous jewellery) and find something special for your valentine

Supermoon rising through the peppermint gums at our workshop on Turrakana /Tasman Peninsula ..
.
This is the largest supermoon to arrive this year, with another (smaller supermoon) expected next month
.
A supermoon happens when a full moon coincides with the Moon being at or near its closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit, called perigee.
This proximity makes the Moon appear larger and brighter in the sky than a typical full moon
.
Key factors that make a supermoon
.
Elliptical orbit: The Moon’s orbit isn’t a perfect circle but is slightly oval-shaped. This means its distance from Earth varies throughout its orbit
.
Perigee: This is the point in the Moon’s orbit when it is closest to Earth
.
Apogee: This is the point in the Moon’s orbit when it is farthest from Earth
.
Full moon alignment: A supermoon occurs specifically when the full phase of the Moon lines up with its perigee position
.
Brightness and size: A full moon at perigee can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than a full moon at apogee. taken in Nubeena, Tasmania, Australia by @spoonsavvy
