Sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you weren't looking for. 🏡🥐

After building his pastry career in Houston, appearing on national cooking shows, and gaining experience in New York kitchens, co-founder Van returned home to create something of his own.

When an unexpected opportunity to expand into Spring Branch came along, the Lil Koffeteria team saw potential in a neighborhood with room to grow.

What started as an unplanned expansion became an opportunity to introduce their creative pastries to a new part of Houston while becoming part of the neighborhood's evolving story.

Founded seven years ago, the bakery celebrates Houston's diverse food scene and co-founder Vanarin's Cambodian heritage. More recently, a personal health journey inspired the team to explore a new direction: creating more diabetes-conscious baked goods.

After Vanarin's diabetes diagnosis, the team began looking at ways to make their pastries more accessible to customers navigating similar health challenges, while continuing to deliver the creative flavors they're known for.

After moving to the United States, the owner noticed that many Korean dishes were adapted or fused with American flavors. While there’s a place for fusion, his vision was different: to give Houstonians an opportunity to experience traditional Korean food and the flavors he grew up with.

From newspaper journalist to restaurant owner, the story behind Korea House is one of new beginnings.
After spending 10 years working as a journalist in South Korea, the owner of Korea House moved to the United States to continue his education and explore a different career path. 🇰🇷🍽️

Following his studies at the University of Houston, he decided to pursue restaurant ownership, eventually settling in Spring Branch and opening Korea House.
Today, his journey is a reminder of the opportunities that come with embracing change and building something new.

35 YEAR OLD REAL MESQUITE GRILL 🔥✨ @eatsmesquitegrillhtx is a hidden gem you may not have heard of, even though they’ve been around for 35 years! Tucked away in the Industrial Corridor of Northwest Houston, the vibe feels like a small town spot you’d stumble upon in the middle of nowhere. Everyone in the area knows them as a true neighborhood staple!

This family-owned gem was founded by a father who showed up every single day since opening until he passed away six months ago. Now his family is carrying on his legacy with the same heart and dedication he built this place on. 🙏

The restaurant is centered around real mesquite grill cooking using locally sourced Texas mesquite wood. The mesquite gives every dish a smoky, authentic flavor you just can’t replicate! Their best sellers are the Mesquite-Grilled Fajitas, Philly Cheese Steak Hoagie, Grilled Ribeye Steak Sandwich, and Breakfast Tacos!

And one more thing that makes this place so special, one of the original employees who’s been here since the beginning created their guac and salsa recipe. The fact that he’s still with them 35 years later says everything you need to know!

Did you know this Houston family-run restaurant has been around since 1978? 👀🥢

Sesame Hut started as a trolley in downtown Houston, opened a second location in Northwest Mall in 1979, and eventually made its way to Spring Branch in 2017.

At one point, there were 8 Sesame Hut locations around Houston, but today, this is the only one left! 🥹

They serve Pan-Asian-style food made to order, and every entrée comes with complimentary onion rings. Yes, onion rings! 😂

For so many Houstonians, Sesame Hut is more than just a restaurant. It’s a little piece of Houston history and brings back those nostalgic flavors you grew up with. ❤️
