Lightning strike beside Poolbeg captured from Sandymount Strand as thunderstorms occurred in the Irish Sea close to Wales.

The storms never got close enough to Dublin to really impact here but some late night strikes made for a nice light show.

Date: 28th May 2026
Equipment: Nikon D7500 with 18-55mm f3.5-5.6
Settings: ISO-200, 30 seconds, f/8.0 @ 18mm

Poolbeg Lighthouse with a rainbow marked off the list. I've got this one lighthouse now with rainbow, fiery skies, noctilucent clouds and even aurora a few times. All that's missing is lightning now!

Will forever be one of my favourite parts of Dublin and how much likes posts of it get suggests you feel the same!

Date: 17th April 2026
Equipment: Nikon D7500 with 70-300mm f4.5-6.3
Settings: ISO-1000, 1/2500th of a second, f/13 @ 220mm (I kinda messed up settings but didn’t matter much in the end!)

Moonset beside the Dublin Airport air traffic control tower last night.

Continuing with the massive dump of pics (sorry for the spam)… whilst waiting to hear on what was happening from @alanbrennan__photography, I attempted to kill time by capturing shots around the airport. I seen a gorgeous moon and I tried going back and forth around the airport roads to see where it would line up. It wasn’t going to align perfectly on top due to obstruction so the next best thing was getting it set beside it. This still wasn’t perfect but very nice nonetheless and glad to have at least captured the moonset.

A couple of time lapses from a night to remember chasing the Milky Way in Glendalough. There was one period of cloud in the first video which gave us second thoughts but then the rest of the night was a blessing.

Enjoy!
