The older I get, the more I find that you can only live with beings who liberate you, who love you with an affection that is as light to bear as it is strong to feel. Blessed to be surrounded by people who love me for who I am, on good days and even more on the not so good days. To me it reads as - this is how I am your friend. The longest journey you will take is - from your head to your heart. It’s the path from logic to truth and from what’s expected to what feels right. And the reason it’s never easy is because it asks you to let go of everything that once made sense.

This year, learnt that grief & gratitude can co-exist. I lived, loved & laughed deeply. Grateful that in the joy, the pain, the hope & the heartache - it knows love. Thankful for yet another trip around the sun with family & friends like family riding it out with me.

The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love — whether we call it friendship or family or romance — is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light. Gentle work. Steadfast work. Lifesaving work in those moments when life and shame and sorrow occlude our own light from our view, but there is still a clear-eyed loving person to beam it back.
In our best moments, we are that person for another. I’m grateful I have a few around, to beam it back at me, when I’m at my worst. Thankful for yet another trip around the sun with them beside me. ♥️✨🍰

One of T̵h̵e̵i̵r̵ our own got hitched this weekend!!! They are what I call my own. They’ve raised me; always generous with their love, attention & kindness towards our family. All the good in me is because of what I have received from them. So happy for @sreenidhi97n to have this family call her own going forward! Missed mami, mama & appa a lot for this one. 2023 sucked the life out of me. Demanded a lot; I met myself and life this year. Took control & let go off so many things. Found joy, became friends with sorrow. We co-existed and made it through.

Whoever is trying, yet another time, to make sense of life, more love to you. I look forward to us writing home our story of triumph.

May we get the help we seek for our pursuits. May the seas part for us. May our dark whale belly days come to an end. May your Sinai yield to you.

Life looks nothing like I thought it would at this age and yet I am happier than the younger me knew it was possible to be. More than anything, I am full of overwhelming gratitude for another year around the sun surrounded by family, friends who are family; peeps who I love, cherish & bring me immense joy. Sun sets on a Goa evening.. The light in your home is just right. Family we dont meet enough, is around. We do laundry. We actually enjoy it. Everyone is crowded in the kitchen - wanting to help. A breeze blows bellies through the curtains. We are quiet. We are all up; drunk; laughing silly. You smile about a joke from last night. Sisters get together; brothers dont want to be left out.
