Botanical artist and gardener: ”Painted by a gardener’s hands”

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Going through things I realize I never shared this lovely faded zinnia painting from this summer! I was painting so much for my art show that I got behind on posting! It was a joy painting these beautiful blooms and I’m already anxiously waiting for more summertime gardening (and painting)!
This year I plan on growing zinnias everywhere! I just love when they get splotchy like this!

Trying out the New York Central watercolor paper….. My favorite paper is Stonehenge after all the many papers I have tried. I’ve only painted one study so far and the paper acts so differently than what I’m used to… but I like it! I’ll do more comparisons as I paint more…. This paper definitely has my interest!

Put more work in on this frilly Oriental Poppy I was painting last month. It’s easy to get lost in all of the petals! These are some of the prettiest spring blooms! #botanicalart #watercolorartist #floralpaintings #flowerart #botanicalwatercolor #floweroftheday by @stacyannpugh

A frilly iris study was fun to paint during the Christmas holiday hours! I’ve enjoyed painting “study” pages and practicing different techniques. Looking forward to a beautiful new year with lots of flowers and painting! Happy New Year everyone! 💕 #botanicalart #watercolorflowers #botanicalpainting #flowerstudy #floweroftheday by @stacyannpugh

Hi! I haven’t been posting much… but just today when I try to post a photo it instantly looks like a faded white overlay comes across it. I’ve tried altering the brightness and contrast and that doesn’t help. Shouldn’t have to do that though. On a reel or story the photos appear correctly. I’m sure I’m missing something. How should I fix this? I appreciate help. by @stacyannpugh

Been awhile since posting anything. Garden cleanup! I’ve been focusing on painting smaller bits and parts of flowers for practice and trying to figure out better techniques. It’s been a nice change to work on different flowers and colors instead of being tied down to one painting only. I feel like I’ve been “stuck” and not growing as an artist. This has been nice challenging myself to paint better and with more details and textures. No more avoiding things I’m too scared to try painting.

I never realized how intricate Allium blooms are! Fell in love though. Ordered many varieties to grow and then paint!

This crazy zinnia was so lovely to paint! I have always shied away from yellows because I was once told they are difficult to paint cleanly… so that got into my head. Well, I loved this zinnia and all of her “quirkiness” that I decided to paint her and after several hours of detailed drawing…. I realized “shoot, look at all of those yellows and oranges… now what”. 😩

I used the Artist Assit App to help me figure out the perfect colors and instead of stressing out about the correct colors… I just got to painting! Now, I LOVE yellow and oranges!
(One of these days I’ll brave it up and do some green leaves…. Been told leaves are impossible…. So you don’t see any leaves in any of my paintings!). I think I need to stop letting other people’s stressors add to my own! #botanicalart #watercolorart #floweroftheday #johnnysseeds #zinnialove #zinnias #flowerart #floralartist by @stacyannpugh

I’m honored to have a solo art show at the Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton, WV. This gallery is truly beautiful even without a single piece of art in it! My paintings will be there until November. Feel free to visit during their regular business hours or during their many entertaining events. We are fortunate to have such a place in our hometowns;
this building is a true legacy of love by a wonderful family. I’m proud to be a small part it!

I’m extremely excited to show the prettiest flowers that have grown in my garden and that I have lovingly painted! Mother Nature has gifted us with the most perfect inspiration and I greedily take advantage of those moments…. I’m blessed to have such incredible gardens to walk thru every day. The hard work and sore muscles are completely worth it! taken in Chuck Mathena Center by @stacyannpugh

Not much painting going on…. Too much gardening! I decided to paint something different… a lupine that is growing at my koi pond. It’s a beautiful flower!

…and my new little painting buddy. “Baker”… because he kneads all the time! #watercolorartist #floralart #flowerpainting #botanicalwatercolor by @stacyannpugh
