A thoughtful renovation begins with understanding what is already there.

For this 1910 Main Line summer home, the transformation was not about starting over. It was about carefully reimagining the spaces to better serve the family today while preserving the character that made the home special in the first place.

From reworking the original layout to introducing new spaces for gathering, working, entertaining, and everyday life, each change was guided by a balance of function, history, and timeless design.

The result is a home that feels renewed, yet unmistakably connected to where it began.

Take a look at the transformation.

“Dreams are of no value, if they’re not equipped with wings”- Dolly Parton
She went on to say…. You can dream and wish all you want, but you have to have the feet, the bravery and the determination to make it happen….

The fireplace that started it all ✨ An antique French mantel + Trumeau mirror = the perfect jumping-off point for this house. A little old-world magic, and we were off and running! taken in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. by @stacyzaringoldberg

Do you think a caterpillar knows she’s going to turn into a butterfly? Or one day she just wakes up more fabulous than ever before?? Read that somewhere… Feels right. Also… I put Oliver in every shot I could 😁

I shot this room from every corner. I edited 6 different versions of just this image. I could’ve spent days in this space and still not captured every detail. The creative process is different for everyone…. Mine involves a combination of obsession, hyperfocus, anguish, loud music, coffee and doritos… just saying 😁

The dining room of our Georgetown project needed to do the most. (Read through)

Inspired by the French principle of enfilade, the room is composed to maintain uninterrupted sightlines from the front of the house to the rear, reinforcing a sense of depth, light, and connection throughout the narrow townhouse.

Rather than occupying a conventional formal dining room, the home’s dining space is thoughtfully situated at the generous stair landing, transforming what might otherwise be a transitional area into a destination

Color was used to define the two functions of the room: the stair area was painted a soft shade of white to emphasize the wall paneling, while the dining room was drenched in an inky green lacquered finish, complemented by a tapestry-style wall covering.

A custom banquette, seamlessly integrated within a wall of built-in storage, creates an intimate setting for everyday meals and effortless entertaining while maximizing the home’s compact footprint

Blurring the line between circulation and gathering, the design reimagines the traditional dining room as a flexible, lived-in space that celebrates both architecture and the rituals of daily life taken in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. by @stacyzaringoldberg
