POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Fresh off the publication of our first COMICS BY KIDS, we heard you loud and clear, and we’re firing up the monthly sessions again. This next one is a take on Exquisite Corpse. A bunch of kids, one story. One storyteller draws a panel. Passes it off. The next storyteller draws a panel. And so on, and so on. And, we’re doing some new stuff with this one!

FIRST. This workshop kicks off a new format. Part learning, part hang-time with your friends. We’ve wanted to create this space for some time. A space where young creators could not only learn, but also hang and make new friends. So the workshop will be about 45 min, and then about 45 min of hang-time. Kids can keep drawing, share work with others, jawbone the latest schoolyard gossip, or just chill.

SECOND. From now on, workshop purchases count toward your Stanza Frequent Buyer points! Are you reading this and like “WHA???” Join Stanza’s frequent buyer program, and every $200 you spend, you get a $20 voucher. Books, cards, workshops, ESCAPES, you are generous to us, we wanna give it right back.

THIRD. There are two scholarship spots available here.

“If money’s tight this month, I own a bookshop, so believe me, I get it. We’ve always done things like this, but we’re going to get better at broadcasting. This will have to be first come, first serve. But honestly, the Stanza community is pretty tight, so if we run into any issues, we’ll just work it out.” -Mark by @stanzabooks

This special Halloween event is not only for those who love spooky stories. It’s also for our young creators. Dan will read from the new edition of his book Tales to Keep You Up at Night. Then, he’ll share some insights into his writing process, how he comes up with ideas, how he overcomes challenges, how he writes like a pro.

This is a golden opportunity for our young creators to meet a real pro author, and talk to him about writing! by @stanzabooks

Join author and storyteller Matthew Mercier, as he recounts his time in Poe’s Bronx home. Alone in Poe’s basement, Mercier grappled with loneliness, his own demons, and Poe himself. He emerged with a whole new understanding of Horror’s First Master, and stories to share with you at this special Halloween show.

This one-man show blends live storytelling and full audio production by Harlan Guthrie, creator of the hit horror podcast MALEVOLENT, to prove YOU DON’T KNOW POE.

After the show, hang with Mercier, share your own stories, and celebrate Horror’s First Master.

Set in the cozy and sophisticated Madam Brett Social Club, accompanied by themed cocktails, and a special Poe toast, this is the perfect Halloween date night in Beacon. by @stanzabooks

Mark your calendars! The Road Home Tour for the paperback of OLD SCHOOL INDIAN is coming.

The best part, @commonladybug and @aegonwonderdog will be joining me, and friends and family will be putting us up. We’ll also stop at other bookstores and libraries on the drive up and back, and we will be adding more dates in the year and the spring.
