Stark DD reschedules October Governance meeting

Canton, OH — The regular October meeting of the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities has been rescheduled from Tuesday, October 27, 2026, to Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

The meeting has been rescheduled to allow the Board to comply with the statutory requirement to review and render a final decision regarding an administrative hearing. The Board is required to issue its decision within thirty (30) days of receipt of the Hearing Officer’s Report.

The Board will convene and enter into executive session for the purpose of reviewing information that is confidential and exempt from public disclosure under applicable state and federal law. Following executive session, the Board will reconvene in open session and take any action necessary regarding the matter.

The meeting is open to the public. Additionally, viewers can watch the meeting livestream through the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities Facebook page at www.facebook.com/StarkDD.

Due to this change in the Governance Board meeting schedule, the October Finance and Personnel committee meetings have been canceled. by @stark_county_dd

🧸 Adapted Toy Giveaway Returns to Stark DD!

Every child deserves the opportunity to play!

For the third year, Stark DD is excited to partner with RePlay for Kids to bring its Adapted Toy Giveaway to our community. In the past, families had to travel outside our area to pick up adapted toys, so we’re glad to once again make this opportunity available right here in Stark County!

Families, educators, agencies and therapists are encouraged to register to request adapted toys and switches at no cost. RePlay for Kids adapts toys so children with disabilities can more easily activate and enjoy them.

Registration is required . After registering, you’ll receive an email with details about how to request toys.

The next Sharing Solutions meeting is Monday, October 5th at Walther's Twin Tavern in North Canton.

This meeting will center around the Stark County DD 2027-2029 Strategic Plan that is being developed this Fall. Sharing Solutions encourages Stark County families/caregivers/professionals attend this very important meeting.

A “Strategic Plan” is a clear direction, sets its priorities, and a practical system for making decisions and resources needed to achieve its mission and goals. Mark Plaster will be our guest speaker. He will listen to parent/caregiver concerns and feedback. He will work to incorporate this input into the plan. by @stark_county_dd

Today was a great day in Akron for the Akron Marathon. Five of our Stark DD employees came together as a team under the team name “ Running on Inclusion” to run the relay and accomplished success while having fun and representing wearing their jersey Help For Good shirts .

📅Stark DD schedules regular monthly meetings

Canton, OH — The next scheduled meeting of the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities Governance Board will be on September 22, 2026, beginning at 6 p.m. The Board meeting will be held in the Ernest Cohen Room at the Whipple-Dale Centre, 2950 Whipple Ave. N.W.

The meeting is open to the public. Additionally, viewers can watch the meeting livestream through the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities Facebook page.

The Finance committee will meet on September 14, 2026, at 12 p.m. at the Stark County District Library - Jackson Branch, 7487 Fulton Dr NW, Massillon. This meeting is open to the public.

🇺🇸 Stark DD will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Labor Day has been celebrated for more than a century as a time to recognize the contributions of America’s workers and the role they play in building strong communities.

At Stark DD, we believe those contributions include people of all abilities. People with developmental disabilities bring their talents, skills and perspectives to workplaces throughout Stark County — earning a paycheck, building careers, contributing to local businesses and being part of their communities.

That’s what our mission is all about: connecting people with developmental disabilities to supports and opportunities that help them live the life they want — at home, at work and in their community.

This Labor Day, we celebrate the value of work, the dignity of opportunity and everyone whose contributions make Stark County stronger.

This is why “This Fair’s for You” matters. 💙💚

We loved seeing this group from Ellis Michael Healthcare Services at the Stark County Fair today! They stopped by Stark DD’s Universal Changing Station during their day at the Fair—and were kind enough to let us grab a group photo before heading back to the fun. 🎡

The Universal Changing Station gives fairgoers who need it a safe, private and accessible space for personal care, helping make a full day at the Fair possible for more people.

If you’re visiting this week, remember we’re here for you! Find the trailer across from the Sheriff’s Station (#36), near the amusement rides.
