I designed Sherman Stokes as a one off silly little throw away billboard back in 2019 when I first started at Meow Wolf. The assignment was literally just to create a short run placeholder while we figured out what should actually go in its place. The idea snowballed from there, of course, and became a micro campaign that landed us on the local news.

Since then, Sherman Stokes has shown up in every exhibition and has cemented itself in Meow Wolf culture. That, in itself, is bizarre.

Fast forward nearly 7 years and this silly little thing I did has once again made it on tv. Something I didn’t even know was possible suddenly became a reality. I’m dumbfounded by this wonderful little Easter egg.

Huge shout out to everyone who worked on this Simpson’s opening! And a very sincere, thank you for the team who worked on Sherman Stokes. Dave, Emily, Benji, Jee, Kate — thank you so freaking much for bringing this idea to life. And to Phil, thank you for not giving up on making this happen. I love you all so dearly. by @starleymay

IT’S BASICALLY ALMOST HERE!

Luke and I are packing our bags to go chat with a bunch of really rad creative people over in Helsinki, Finland at ODDfest!

We have a really incredible talk lined up where we will give you all a deep dive into our freaky little Meow Wolf brains. Sure, you know what we make here and maybe even a little bit of the how we do it — but don’t you wanna know WHY we keep making all this stuff? I’m sure you do!

Come listen to us talk at you about things we really care about! Some say we’re terrible on camera, but I say we are kinda sorta charming. {we are so bad at social media I’m so sorry for putting you through this}

Ok love you bye! by @starleymay

It’s me! Go watch the little interview I did about my work on character handwriting for our exhibitions on the @meow__wolf instagram!

I’m definitely not the only human being out here cosplaying as our many characters, but I sure do love doing it. Here are a couple pieces I’ve done or done in collab across some of our exhibitions. With my personal favorite being the wonderful Isadora from @meowwolfhouston. taken in Meow Wolf by @starleymay

SUCH a joy to work with @luke_dorman and @davidhoskins on this title treatment for the new @meow__wolf role playing game! I think maybe the best memory I have of working on this, is the day that David, Luke and I spent 3 consecutive hours passing the type sketch back and forth absolutely roasting and shit talking each other as if we were old friends. Which of course, now we are.

Double shout out to my new bestie @davidhoskins—you challenged me to push my work farther and I am forever grateful to have gotten to work with you on this.

Cheers to a new Fellowship being born. by @starleymay

Still can’t believe I got to talk about Meow Wolf… at the TATE?! What?!

Me and Luke somehow tricked an entire room of brilliant humans into listening to us talk about the emotional logic of fridge portals and the social science of worldbuilding. I may or may not have said some unhinged shit about friendship (again). Whoops.

Thank you to everyone who made this happen — especially the team at Wise, @nikkigodley , and @joshpayton for letting me be weird in one of the most beautiful museums I’ve ever stood in.

100/10 would absolutely do again

Holy Moly Me Oh My—Luke and I are so incredibly stoked to be speaking at the @tate Modern in London in just a few days! It still feels incredibly surreal that we have the opportunity to do this and that we get to do with eachother AGAIN. Luke and Marley World Tour continues.

Thanks again to the @wisedesign team for hosting and including us in this line up! See you soon ❤️

Some sparkly signs from @meowwolfgrapevine that I made with my best friends—Luke, Caleb, and Caitlin. What a treat. 🥹

I’ve never posted a video here and I guess everything’s a reel now?? So I’m honoring this moment with the song of the summer so says my TikTok.

Also in honor of me waking up every day and watching 10-minute video essays about Justin and Selena like I’m in middle school all over again.

This mural sits at the front of house for Radio Tave, where guests first arrive—and I got to design it from a place of pure trust. @danielleish (creative director of the front of house space) basically said, “Pitch something you want to make.” So fucking fun.

I pulled from some doodles I’d been making in meetings and pushed it into this mirrored, viney form that felt both personal and new. It was such a fun, open process—one of my favorite moments from the project.

No photo of the final mural 🫣 because I forgot to take a good picture while I was there, but here’s the behind-the-scenes: SketchUp (I think) views, complexity tests, and the final graphic before it was printed for install.

Holy freaking shirtballs! Remember when I compared working for @meow__wolf to Invasion of the Body Snatchers? Or when I said that the “real world building is the friends we made along the way?” — yeah, no, me neither.

It’s been such an honor getting to speak at @inhouseinfocus about the work that we do over at Meow Wolf. There is so much thoughtfulness, passion, and dedication in our little design department and it deserves to be celebrated every day!

On a personal note—holy fucking shitballs!!! What a terrifying and completely, insanely, rewarding experience. I really really love what I do 🫢❤️
