🌴 Thinking about planting a palm? Late August can be a great time to get it in the ground! Warm soil encourages root growth, giving your palm a chance to establish before cooler weather arrives. When planting, choose a location with plenty of room for mature growth, dig a hole 2–3 times wider than the root ball (but no deeper), and keep the top of the root ball level with or slightly above the surrounding soil.

💧 Water deeply and consistently while your palm establishes, especially during our hot desert summers. A 2–4 inch layer of mulch can also help retain moisture and regulate soil temperatures. Remember to keep it away from the trunk.

Did you know- not all vegetables work well together in the garden? 🌱 Some plants compete for nutrients, attract the same pests, or spread diseases more easily when grown side-by-side. For example, onions can interfere with beans’ nitrogen-fixing root, while tomatoes and potatoes are both prone to the same blights. This means planting them close together can make disease spread faster through your garden.
