English and bilingual poster design for Christine Choy’s “From Spikes to Spindles”, as part of the Christine Choy retrospective co-presented by @thirdworldnewsreel and @lunettefilms.

“From Spikes to Spindles” is a raw, gutsy portrait of New York’s Chinatown that captures the early days of an emerging consciousness in the community. We see a Chinatown rarely depicted, a vibrant community whose young and old join forces to protest police brutality and hostile real estate developers. by @starrwithluv

In the past few months, I made the big decision to commit to freelancing full time. My doors are now open to new work and new people. If you or anyone in your network is seeking creative direction, graphic design, poster design, pitch deck design, marketing support, etc etc, I’d love to work with you! I’m especially committed to work that centers queer POC bodies and narratives, and I love projects that value craft, multimedia approach, and human touch (no AI please). DM me for my contact info and portfolio. Over the next few weeks I’ll also be posting some of my greatest hits here 🦋 by @starrwithluv

My fiction debut is out now in @thelosangelesreview review.

This story is a special one to me. I claim it as both love letter and elegy to my hometown (friends in the Bay, I hope you catch some references) and all the beguiling fantasies we must imagine to evade the end of the world. And yes, the apocalypse will be queer!

Thank you to my editor, Angie Brenner, for all your care and patience with this piece. Finally, I’ve attached a still from The Wonders (one of my favorites from Alice Rohrwacher) that catalyzed this world and story. by @starrwithluv

My graphic novella, MIGRANT MATTER, is featured in this issue of @sinethetamag: an island, a flock of birds and the women who encounter them. A brief fairytale about migration, transience, and the poetics of matter. Inspired by political theorist Jane Bennett’s “Vibrant Matter: A Political Ecology of Things”. Thank you @ilikejunejordan for your support of this work 💫 by @starrwithluv

a year and a half ago, i made a movie about femme friendship and home before launching myself to a new life in nyc. this was the first film i ever made, and i’ve felt embarrassed to share it for the longest time because it didn’t really go the way i planned. but i made a promise to myself to share it with the world in the new year because i owed it to the friends i made this film with (and myself!) to let go of my ego and see where this story will take me.

thank you @princess_claralyn, @vict0ria.luu, dayoung, and @tiger_chow for making this story come to life with me. i love you all so very much.

a higher quality version of this film is available on my website, link in bio!

recent fits ft. some dear pals

came back on here to give a big life announcement. three months ago i quit my full time corporate job to pursue film and production design. i’ve been in nyc for less than a year, and yet i feel i’ve already lived so many lives. to be frank, it’s been exhausting, to continuously grow into new versions of yourself, to live and die time after time, sometimes without your own consent. but i want to celebrate what i have accomplished: for the first time in my life, i have lived authentically, in tune with love, in tune with my vision of care and play and community. i’ve put my heart out on a dinner plate and allowed it to be eaten. a while back, i was reflecting to anqi how this is the year that have embraced the brave romantic that i know i am and will always be. there aren’t a lot of us out there, but i’ve met a couple on this journey, and i honor you. let’s continue to make beautiful and ugly things. by @starrwithluv
