POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
@thebabbleofthebrookfilm is LIVE ✨

While this film has been a large piece of my heart the past 2+ years, I have carried the stories we brought to life for 25 years. The origin of the film was a short story called “A Replacement,” and is one of my earliest memories after losing my mother at 6. The stories/the film were not chiefly about what I sought after to fill the gap, but truly the wide open space my mother’s death left behind. That space over the decades has torn and stretched me, ebbed and flowed, become quiet and then unexpectedly loud.

Anyone who has sustained a loss knows - grief stays with us, morphs, rears its head. This film was about grief, gaps in language and years, and ultimately, hope.

I cannot adequately express the depth of my gratitude for my dear friend @averiisrael: I have always, always believed no one else sees the world the way she does, and this film would *not* exist without her vision, labor, and heart.

My deepest thanks to the ENTIRE cast & crew who literally jumped into the process. I am so honored to have been graced with your gifts. Thank you, thank you.

Last, to the community of supporters who made this possible: Thank you. In the film, Yaewon reads the passage where Dante emerges, “to see - once more - the stars.” You have all been that for me. Link in bio 🤍

Sheeeeeeesh! We have our very own Bay Area Short Film showcase, screening right here in San Francisco at the iconic Roxie Theater! Featuring 7 different short films!

Join us for our program - Traces of Memory: a short film showcase that explores the threads of grief, identity, memory, and exploration of self and the environments we live in. Affirming that while all are born and/or based Bay Area artists, we are limitless in the locations/places we tell our stories.

Tickets are $10, and there’s less than 20 left. Don’t sleep on em, cause once it’s sold out, it’s done. One day only 🙂‍↕️

I am super grateful to be able to hold space with these lovely filmmakers. I’m really excited to share not only Late Bloom with everyone, but for the community to embrace 6 films from the homies as well. If you’ve been wanting to see any of these films, this is your opportunity to be in community with us all :)

🎟️ Link in our bios and/or you can find us on the Roxie’s website.

Traces of Memory | This Sunday at the historic Roxie Theater, we will be debuting our Bay short film showcase Traces of Memory!

This is a one time event featuring 7 different filmmakers. This showcase explores the threads of grief, identity, memory, and exploration of self and the environments we live in. Affirming that while all are born and/or based Bay Area artists, we are limitless in the locations/places we tell our stories.

We had a lot of fun creating this promo for you all! While our films aren’t as light hearted as this promo, we wanted to give you another side to the ways we tell stories. The multiplicities of Bay storytellers is something we resonate with 100%.

We hope to see you there, link in the bio or on the Roxie’s website. 25 tickets left!!! You know what to do. 🫡

Big big love to the crew involved
