Scoliosis often progresses without pain in childhood. Caught early, there is still time to treat it before it becomes severe.

SMILE CURVE built Senaka Scan for exactly that: a portable, radiation-free 3D back scanner for early detection and monitoring.

In 2024, the team joined the Start2 Asia Accelerator, part of the Tokyo SUTEAM program funded by @tokyo_gov and run by the regional @start2.group team to help Japanese startups validate their business models in Korea, India, and Singapore.

Since then they’ve racked up milestones across two continents.

🏔️ From a pitch in Munich to plans in Denver: Ewigbyte is building data infrastructure for the AI era.

The Munich startup stores data in laser-written glass. It is physically immutable and needs no power or cooling to retain data. Backed by @sprind_bundesagentur, Germany’s Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation, the team is now looking across the Atlantic.

It began in June, when Governor @jaredpolis and a Colorado delegation joined us at @start2.group in Munich for a joint Deep Tech pitch competition.

Eight teams. Three minutes each. Ewigbyte was one of the winners invited to @costartupweek.

In September, the team went.

“Being there was a completely new ballgame.”

They met Governor Polis at the State Capitol, talked with the pioneers behind StorageTek and Exabyte, and sat down with prospective research partners, investors, and customers.

Now they are planning a first Denver presence at the German American Chamber of Commerce - Colorado Chapter.

🇮🇳 🤝 🇩🇪 Eight scale-ups. 80+ people in the room.

Two very different ecosystems, and a lot of potential in between.

Last week we hosted the German-Indian StartUp Connector 2026 in Munich with the German-Indian Business Forum.

Eight scale-ups pitched across deep tech, AI, sustainability, aerospace, semiconductors and e-mobility.

Both winners are building hardware:
🥇 SilTest Semiconductors (Amber Kumar, Sameer S.): making semiconductor testing and hardware reliability smarter

🥈 OrbitAID Aerospace (Nikhil Balasubramanian): developing in-orbit servicing for satellites

The pitches were only the beginning.

With 80+ founders, investors and corporates in one room, the day was about the conversations that turn an introduction into a partnership, a pilot or a route into a new market.

Few countries have more reason to build together than Germany and Japan.

Their robot density in manufacturing sits at 449 and 446 per 10,000 workers, more than triple the world average of 132. Yet their industries have grown up largely in parallel.

That is starting to change. Japan’s 2022 startup plan targets 100,000 startups and 100 unicorns by 2027.

And since last summer, Japanese organizations can join and coordinate Horizon Europe consortia under the same rules as Member State partners.

We work this corridor in both directions.

One gap keeps coming up: a Japanese buyer asks who else in Japan uses your product, and many European companies arrive without an answer.

That gap shaped Sapporo Night, hosted in Munich with the City of Sapporo and STEP. Munich and Sapporo have been sister cities since 1972.

@start2.group hosted founders from the @tu.muenchen U.S. Venture Program for a full immersion week in the heart of the Bay Area, workshops, pitching, and real conversations with Silicon Valley’s startup community.

The week covered everything that actually matters when you’re taking a German startup to the U.S.: client conversations, VC fundraising, cultural differences, and legal compliance.

Then came the pitch event, founders took the stage in front of local investors, founders, and ecosystem partners to present their innovations and U.S. market entry strategies.

The week closed with a panel where founders, mentors, and partners shared what navigating the U.S. market actually looks like from the inside.
