One of the harder things do organic growers to navigate over the last few years has been the changing landscape around heavy metals.

Whatever your opinion on the rules, the reality is that they’ve changed what many of us can comfortably use in our soils programs. Most farms have just plain stopped using organic nutrients.

I’ve always believed in building soil 1st,
Biology, organic matter, local inputs, and letting the soil do most of the work.

That’s why I love the @the_og_bioag products so much.
I don’t look at these products as a replacement for a living soil program. I see them as tools to help get more out of the soil we already built.

We’re not trying to grow better, not more.

And sometimes growing better means finding new tools without losing sight of the way you wanted to grow in the 1st place. by @state3selections

I’m tired of seeing posts that celebrate how big a cannabis company got instead of how good their product is.

Scale isn’t the flex people think it is. We’ve watched companies come into Oregon, chase scale, and leave when the market got harder.

Support the farms you want to still be here in 5 years.

The Oregon pesticide registration list has a lot of changes right now, including some of the Athena products listed as cancelled for 2026.

Hey @athena.ag any word on what’s going on? Im just curious. It doesn’t seem like rooting compound and sanitizer specifically are even that big of a deal considering the other products on the list have the same exact ingredients listed.

Oregon growers, check the list and let me know what you see. It’s always changing. by @state3selections

Don’t spend your time building soil if you’re ignoring the water that goes into it. 💦🌱

Most municipal water contains chlorine or chloramines. They’re important for keeping drinking water safe, but they can also work against the beneficial biology we’re trying to build in our soil.

One thing I’ve been doing is adding @the_og_bioag Ful-Humix liquid to my water. Humics can help reduce the impact of chlorine and chloramines while adding organic carbon that supports healthy soil biology.

If you’re running drippers, FulPower is another great option because it’s less likely to leave residue in emitters. You will however need to up the amount.

I’ve been using BioAg products for years. They have helped me win multiple cups and I appreciate that they’re an Oregon company. If you’re going to pick some up considering from your local grow store. I get mine from @ohanagardenhydro because I like supporting local businesses that support local growers. @hedberg.josh is also an amazing and knowledgeable rep for the company if you have questions.

Every day we are told to focus on and faced with legislation that is demanding clean cultivation, testing, compliance, and consumer safety.

Then I came across this post on LinkedIn by @jade_grove_farm that made me stop scrolling.

He claims laboratory testing found concerning levels of heavy metals and BPA in METRC tags.

I haven’t independently verified the testing, so I’m not presenting as fact. But if these findings are confirmed, it’s absolutely a conversation our industry should be having.

Has anyone else seen the testing for this? I’d love to hear what industry and consumers think.

Maybe this is the push we need to remove veg plant tagging which does nothing for safety.

Please share so we can hear from everyone.

Some victories don’t make the highlight reel or win an award.

But they still count.

Today’s victory:
Filled the tank without spilling gas all over my hands.

Today is off to a promising start.

Runtz changed the market forever and I respect what’s it’s done in the industry. But, after growing it, I realized I’d rather spend my limited canopy space chasing unique genetics I make and unique landraces than growing something that doesn’t genuinely excite me.

Maybe that’s bad business. But maybe it’s how small craft farmers stay different? Something I have noticed is that you, our supporters really like the exclusive and unique strains and cultivars. Sometimes even more that the popular hype ones.

I stay small on purpose. I don’t lack ambition.

It’s because I care too much about the details.

The details don’t scale.
While we’re on the subject,
There’s no outsourcing passion.
You can’t automate care.
You can’t mass produce craftsmanship.

I’ve learned that success isn’t building something that never goes wrong.

It’s more about building something you’d still choose to do when it does. by @state3selections

Late night thoughts.
*Disclaimer. I’m Not calling anyone out specifically.

I’m out here late night organizing seeds to my next big pop realizing son of y’all have made strain names impossible to discuss like normal adults haha.

I respect the work and a big hunt is coming soon…

What’s the craziest strain name you’ve heard lately? by @state3selections

Fresh salad greens every month 🥗
We do successively plant with all our crops.

We up potted these lettuce seedlings to 3.5” pots today and put them into 7 gal pots. Every few weeks we keep the cycle going. Repeat. Forever!
This way we’re never waiting an always harvesting fresh products no matter what the crop.

Hit ‘em with a little Vam Endo from @the_og_bioag before they go in. It’s a mycorrhizal inoculant + humic. It’s simple and effective and I’ve used it for years over here.

Thats the whole game. That’s how we keep the freshest product on our table and in the jars.

Save and share this.
I don’t know how many times we’re going to sell ourselves out for what is offered as relief. This is not the answer. I believe this will be the end of the small medical grower.

How many 1-2 lighters are going to pay $4k a year for compliance?

Is this progress rich death of small medical growers?

Earth Day is not something we prepare for once a year.
It’s every day out here.

It’s everything.
The plants, the inputs, the soil, the worms, the frass.
Staying small on purpose, doing it right, even when it’s hard.
