I got a few more turbo inlet restrictors here to sell as well. 2x carbon/alloy TR25R WRC/WTCC ones, 1x earlier spec 33mm restrictor, 1x later spec 36mm restrictor.
And one other 33mm restrictor one, complete with post restrictor vacuum take-off, but off something else (no clue what, but aside from full race turbos, all turbos that use restrictors get machined to allow them to be bolted on).
£150 each for the carbon/alloy ones, £50 for the other one.

Here’s something you don’t see, basically, ever. A 36mm (aka 2014 on in WTCC and 2017 on in WRC) WRC+WTCC inlet restrictor, but one made for dyno testing and tuning rather than permanently fitted to the cars, with built in ports (facing the direction of flow too) to measure restriction (ie the difference in air pressure pre-restrictor vs pre-turbo), so they can get the tuning and maximum performance as perfect as possible.
Weighs more than the standard official restrictors due to the big extra chunk of alloy in the middle there, but it’s mega cool and exactly what you need for testing and tuning.
I’ve no use for it so going to sell it, but it’s a proper bit of kit.
Made to bolt straight on to the WRC Garrett Motorsport TR25R turbos.
£200 plus post.

Another turbo I’m selling- A Holset HX50 the same spec as the one on my 1.8T MR2, but a bit better.
I bought this one first but it didn’t arrive in time so used the other one.
Same wheel sizes, the only difference is this has the better 7 blade comp wheel and a 16cm non-gated housing, mine is 8 blade wheel and 17cm housing we modified to remove the gate.
62/99mm comp wheel, 72/86mm turbine wheel.
Good for 750bhp+ and all the boost.
This is used but has zero play in out or side to side, so it’s had an easy life for sure.
£250 plus post.

And no, it doesn’t spool at low rpm unless you got a 3ltr+ engine. But on mine I’m pulling hard to 9300rpm, so…

Unused billet twin scroll twin internal wastegate Garrett turbo anyone? Good for 500bhp+ (bigger comp wheel than a G25-550).
Having a clear out of stuff I won’t use.
51/71mm 6 blade billet compressor.
60/67mm 10 blade turbine wheel.
0.93 a/r twin scroll T4 turbine housing with twin internal wastegates.
Never been used or fitted.
£350 plus post.

Having a clear out of stuff I won’t be using anymore, and I’ve got this badass Inconel Holset HX40 5+5 Xona UHF style upgrade turbine wheel still in the box I no longer need as I’ve gone even bigger on the turbo.
Proper bit of kit, flows tons more and supposedly spools even faster too.
Still in the original box, never used.
Yours for £135 plus shipping.

I got a good HX40 core (inc housings) I’ll throw in for free that’s the ideal base for a build. It’s the one I was gonna use to fit this to along with a decent size compressor wheel.

Put the silver car on 14s. Smaller than standard. And ridiculously light ones too. The massive lack of rotating unsprung mass makes it way more lively, like it a lot.
Low as fuck too.
This one is stock 1ZZ btw, which I thought was obvious, but going by latest YouTube comments and messages I keep getting, most people think it’s 1.8T. No. Not yet at least.

Chinese shite wheel nuts. Steering felt vague last night so just decided to check wheel bolts were tight. And with absolutely zero effort with one hand a pretty short bar, one snapped clean off. Mint. Most the threaded part is still in the wheel hole too, so that’s gonna be fun to remove…

As I hardly drive it, I decided I’d take the silver MR2 to the car wash, take some photos, and sell it. And then go to Taco Bell and get some food (poisoning).

And within 5min of driving it I remembered how much fun it is, and instead we ended up caning around the streets for over an hour just for fun, didn’t clean the car, don’t wanna sell it again, etc. Still went to Taco Bell tho.

The way I see it, unless your turbo is the most noticeable part of your engine, it’s too small. And even if it is, it probably still is too small. So fit a bigger one.

There’s always ways to make a too big turbo spool up, there’s no way to make a too small turbo make more reliable power.

While it was likely my splitter failing that gave me the massively instability at 190mph+ last time out in my MR2, it got me thinking about other ways to improve straight line stability.

Most race cars have large vertical parts of their wings which help to that, and some even have a giant single vertical stabiliser like an aircraft, but what about the cars without big wings?

Well there’s not many that do big speeds without them, but NASCAR and Bonneville Salt Flats do, and they both use the same thing- Roof rails (although they often are on the front and rear wings and even on the rear screens too).

Their rules both specify the same size too- Basically 20mm by 1.5mm, and are to help stop things getting too out of shape at big speed. Wing strakes on aircraft look the same and they’re for stability too but that’s a different concept. But they look badass so I added a pic anyhow.

Either way, if it works for them it can’t do me any harm, and while I’ll likely never know if it’s helped, as it being stable next time may be unrelated, if it slightly lessens the odds of either me having to lift off as it’s too bad, or me crashing and dying, it worth it.

So I got a load of 20mm aluminium angle, and got chopping and riveting, and now my MR2 has them too.
