Making time and space to be still is something that I often forget to do until my existential check engine light comes on and I need some serious maintenance.

Sometimes I do a little too much for a little too long and anxiety begins to boil.

To combat this, I’ve been making an effort to take inventory of my surroundings to gauge how draining activities actually are by checking in with myself. What is adding stress? What brings fulfillment? Do I need to fill up my entire day all the time? Do I have the same interests I did 3 years ago? Do I really want to be at this party at 3am? The list goes on.

My goal is to stop spreading myself thin and socially exhausting myself so I may have a better understanding of what really makes me tick so I can nurture those parts of my life instead of sinking energy into things that don’t lead to growth.

Part of this practice is taking time to recharge and reorganize my own life.

This is a long road to a destination that I may never fully reach but it’s worth a shot. 🤷‍♂️

my dudes & I frolic so hard 🥹🤟

Just casually swam from our campsite to another beach and had it all to ourselves to play. It felt like we swam to a new world - 2 beaches connected by a giant cave & a waterfall flowing through. I can adventure with these fools all day :)) This was just the beginning of one of our adventure days from our backpacking trip & what a blessing it was to experience it with my favorite dudes ✨

My dad celebrated his fourth consecutive year of sobriety on December 21, 2024. 🎉

In September 2019, everything was completely fucked. His addiction and alcoholism put my sister and me in a position where we could no longer be in his life, and we cut off communication completely for four years. I thought that would be the last time I saw my dad alive, and I had to make peace with that. No child should have to watch their parent k*ll themselves.

Since then, my dad nearly did take his own life, but he didn’t. He experienced a miracle and found the courage to end his 47-year bender through rehab and Alcoholics Anonymous. When we reconnected, he had been sober for nearly three years and has continued to stay strong.

Through this miracle, we have our dad back in our lives—something we never thought would happen. He has dedicated his life to his sobriety and mentoring others battling alcoholism and addiction, and I could not be more proud.

If you or someone you know is going through hell, I’m here to chat.

It’s good to have you back, Dad. ❤️ 🫂

Congratulations @hidden.times & @gilli_in_the_mist for tying the knot in exquisite fashion. There is no better feeling (that I’ve experienced) than seeing your dingus of a little sister finally settle down with someone who gives them purpose, joy, and security.
