Prince Yeletsky’s decleration to Liza (who ended up choosing the horrible tenor 🫠)

This is my first time singing Russian repertoire and it’s safe to say I have fallen in love with it. Tchaikovsky has such an incredible way of writing beautifully tragic music that highlights the underlying sadness in the text.

In this aria, Prince Yeletsky declares his profound, devoted love to his fiancé, Liza. Liza has fallen in love with Hermann and eventually leaves the heartbroken Prince 😭

I will sing this at our final Gala concert as a studio member at @operzuerich 💜

I can’t wait 🤩🤩🤩

1st Prize @parisoperacomp 🥇

Still taking it all in… Winning the Paris Opera Competition is an honour I’ll carry with me for a lifetime. I’m deeply grateful and genuinely humbled by this moment.

To my friends and loved ones who travelled to be here—your presence meant more than I can put into words. Thank you for lifting me up, cheering me on, and being with me every step of the way.

To everyone who has helped me along the way—teachers, mentors, colleagues, and all those who offered guidance, encouragement, or even a simple kind word—this achievement is as much yours as it is mine. There are too many to mention but you know who you are 🫶🏻

And finally, to my fellow competitors. Thank you for making this experience inspiring, supportive, and unforgettable. Sharing the stage with such extraordinary talent was a privilege and I hope to do so again very soon.

Au revoir Paris, pour l’instant! 🇫🇷👋

Throwback to a recital in Paris 🇫🇷
@parisoperacomp

Personally, I think this is the most beautiful aria ever written for a baritone. From Korngold’s, Die Tote Stadt, comes “Mein sehnen, mein wähnen”. An aria that speaks about memories of love, commitment and longing that only return in dreams.

What do you think is the most beautiful baritone aria of all time?

Mae’r bariton o Fôn, Steffan Lloyd Owen wedi dweud ei fod eisiau “helpu pobl eraill sy’n delio â galar”, a hynny ddegawd ers colli ei fam, Susan.

Bu farw ei fam yn dilyn damwain ffordd yn 2016, ac yn siarad am ei cholli am y tro cyntaf ar ei delerau ei hun ers hynny, mae’n gobeithio y gall ei brofiad fod o fudd i eraill.

Daw ar ôl iddo rannu fideo ar gyfryngau cymdeithasol yn pwysleisio “pwysigrwydd siarad am y person sydd wedi marw” a chofio’r amseroedd da, gan ddweud mai’r “dyddiau gorau yw’r rhai pan dwi’n siarad am Mam a chofio pa mor arbennig oedd hi”.

Wrth siarad â Cymru Fyw, anogodd bobl i deimlo eu galar yn eu ffordd eu hunain: “Teimla bopeth a chymra dy amser i deimlo popeth - paid â rhuthro galar.”

❤️ Ddeng mlynedd ar ôl colli ei fam, mae'r bariton o Fôn Steffan Lloyd Owen yn dweud nad yw eisiau profi galar fel rhywbeth "negyddol" mwyach, ond yn hytrach fel rhywbeth y dylen ni "siarad amdano'n fwy".

Mewn fideo ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol, fe wnaeth y canwr, sy'n 30 oed, drafod sut mae galaru am ei fam wedi newid dros y ddegawd ddiwethaf.

Ym mis Medi 2016, cafodd ei fam Susan Owen, yn 50 oed ar y pryd, ei lladd ar ôl i wrthrych ddod yn rhydd oddi ar gerbyd dyn oedd yn gyrru'n beryglus, a darodd ei char ar ffordd ger Bangor.

Bu farw Mrs Owen ychydig wythnosau wedi i Steffan ennill gwobr Y Rhuban Glas yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Y Fenni y flwyddyn honno.

Yn ei fideo ddydd Mercher oedd yn nodi union 10 mlynedd ers marwolaeth ei fam, dywedodd ei fod yn meddwl mai rhywbeth "oedd yn rhaid i chi ymdopi ag ef" yw galar.

"'Dw i wastad 'di gweld y dyddiad hwn fel un anodd iawn oherwydd dydy'r dyddiad ei hun ddim yn golygu dim i Mam," meddai.

"Dim ond oherwydd mai dyma'r diwrnod y bu hi farw y mae'n bwysig", meddai.

Ychwanegodd: "'Dw i bob amser wedi bod yn agored i drafod y pwnc hwn wyneb yn wyneb ond mae'n teimlo'n llawer anoddach i bostio hwn i bawb i'w weld.

"Mae galar yn rhywbeth rydyn ni i gyd yn ei brofi rywbryd yn ein bywydau, ac eto, am ryw reswm, rydyn ni’n dal i gael trafferth siarad amdano.

"Rydyn ni’n poeni y gallai wneud i bobl deimlo’n anghyfforddus. Efallai ein bod ni’n poeni, ar ôl peth amser, y dylen ni fod wedi symud ymlaen erbyn hyn.

"Neu, yn fy achos i, rydych chi’n poeni y gallai galar eich diffinio chi," meddai.

Let’s talk about grief 🤍

It’s not an easy conversation to initiate on either side, but more often than not I feel better after having the conversation.

Grief can be such an individual experience, but that doesn’t mean you have to be alone with it.

I hope this post finds whoever needs to hear it. Please remember:

It’s okay not to be over it.
It’s okay to never be over with it.
It’s also okay to be at peace with it.

I have never been so nervous posting something in my life. I have always been open to talking about this subject in person, but this feels very vulnerable and scary to post this for all to see.

This is the first time I’ve spoken publicly about this (on my terms.)

Feel free to share your experience - big hugs to everyone who are missing a loved one.

Susan Jane Owen 🤍
