It’s #thirstythursday, so naturally we’re moving on to #wine. 🍷

As part of my summer writing roundup, I had the chance to dive into the world of Vintage Port for @tastingpanel, exploring its return after seven years with the celebrated 2024 declaration.

One of the things I’ve always loved about my work is the range: one day I’m talking architecture and design, the next I’m talking wine. And after earning my WSET Level 3 several years ago, I’m always especially happy when an assignment brings me back to the glass.

New week, new location, and summer stories. It’s been a busy few months. Not only did I write my annual series of articles on @neocon_shows for Business of Furniture / @bellow_press, work on the yearly Product Marketplace issue for @hospitalitydesign, contribute several articles to @bostonhomemag, and write pieces for @tastingpanel and @theflamingomag, I also relocated from New York City to St. Pete, Florida.

I’ll continue working with my ongoing clients while looking forward to new experiences and opportunities in my new hometown. Over the next few days, I’ll share some of the pieces I worked on this summer—and the range of subjects I love covering.

Today, let’s start with something delicious: #food and #hospitality. Featured in the summer issue of Flamingo, “At Rocca, Chef Bryce Bonsack Brings Michelin-Starred Italian Dining to Tampa” took me inside one of my new home state’s most celebrated restaurants.

Another @neocon_shows and @fultonmarketdesigndays in the books. Stories to come in upcoming issues of Business of Furniture soon.

Overall, great showing of products. Loved the new dedicated lighting section at The Mart, and new showrooms for @honcompany and @kifurniture in Fulton Market were really well done.

Loving the bright, fresh hues all around (including rust/orange and some periwinkle/blues/purples—they were everywhere), which really made so many spaces warm and welcoming.

I also appreciate the fact that so many brands are focused on comfort for all of the senses and a range of demographics. It’s definitely giving people a reason to go back to the office, helping educational spaces become more engaging, and making medical outlets more smoothing and serene. by @stefschwalb

This is a great play, and Mariska Hargitay did a beautiful job in the role.

For anyone who’s struggled with depression or mental health issues, or has family/friends who have and you’ve been impacted (and honestly, who hasn’t?)—it’s worth checking out. Very glad I caught it. ❤️

Better late than never…for a new week, new story. It’s my final piece for @american_salon covering @iecsc_be_well_shows @ibs_shows.

It’s all about the amazing work @traceyhughesedu and ritas_world_1 are doing in hair loss education. It was a joy to connect with them through this event. They are a wealth of knowledge and so supportive of stylists and their clients.

New week, new story.... This time it’s a piece in the April/May issue of @sommjournal featuring three top sommeliers/wine directors/beverage directors on the Gulf Coast in Florida. They hail from a trio of exceptional restaurants in St. Pete and Tampa and include Dustin French from @roccatampa , @barterroir; Michelle Richards from @allelostpete, @juno.peacock, and @plumalounge; and Tyler Wolff from @ponte_tampa, @onswann, and @olivia_modernitalian.

This is National Teacher Appreciation Week, so it’s seems fitting to honor my Aunt Fran—Frannie as I liked to call her.

She was a New York City public school teacher. (English was her subject, of course, just like my grandpa before her.) I recently came across some beautiful letters some students wrote to her along with several teaching awards.

I imagine she could be really fun in the classroom—just as she was outside of it. Sharp, sassy, and always able to make me laugh.

l love this photo because it shows how even if I was in a slightly grumpy mood, she could always make me crack a smile.

You are greatly loved, Frannie, and you will be greatly missed. 💛 by @stefschwalb
