Something like the feeling of~~Stella’s Alpine Village at magic hour~~a bad family reunion t-shirt draped around your neck~~you see the same t-shirt wayyyyyyyy out in the distance, maybe at the top of the yule log flume~~could be your recently divorced cousin or your uncle with all the terriers, but it’s hard to tell for sure

Today’s the last day to see “Zippers or Olives” at @stowaway_la, open 1-5pm today. Thanks to @pshof for including me and pals @mcaudo and @hunkytonic in this show.

I loved this part of Perri’s curatorial text:
“I borrowed the show title from Anne Carson’s poem ‘Pronoun Envy,’ where she underscores the absurdity of binary pronouns: ‘…as if all the creatures in the world were either zippers / or olives…’ Like Carson, these artists push against fixedness and labeling. Their work makes space for bodies that are slippery—those that can only be sensed and imagined.”

I loved this Carson quote, too, because it starts to demonstrate the pleasure of the continued pursuit and failure to get at unnameable energies—I imagine if Carson continued writing her list of absurdist boxes (zippers or olives or plywood or bats or….) it would, after 100 years more or less, make for a pretty decent poem. by @steph.zim
