Peaches are Ripe!!! Only 2 weeks left to apply to the Third Edition of FRESH PEACHES!!
.
This juried exhibition for students in Georgia began as a fun idea to promote the medium of printmaking, students & emerging artists from the peach state will be hosted @uwestga next month!!!
.
FREE to apply & open to students (of ALL levels) & recent graduates (‘24 or more recent) working / living in Georgia. This exhibition is about the wonderful democratic & analog medium of printmaking! Hand pulled prints made with human hands & minds! Think silkscreen, relief, intaglio, letterpress, monoprint, lithography, book arts, etc. NO purely digital prints, giclee or anything created with generative ai. We are about the humanity required for creativity & art making!!

This year I asked the wonderful & prolific Jasmin Warnock @warnockart to be the guest juror, helping to curate & pick the award winners! She earned 2nd place in the first iteration of Fresh Peaches @menagerieonmain in 2024 & followed it up with Best in Show / First Place at last years exhibition @artstationcobb More than likely you’ve seen her work around Atlanta & beyond as she is super active in the community, inspiring & always making!

Artist and printmaking professor at UWG @stephaniesmithart & I have some fun plans to coincide with the opening reception Saturday, September 12th! Beforehand I’ll be leading a risograph collage workshop in the printmaking lab at West Georgia. The reception (with award ceremony) will go from 3-5pm! Afterwards we will move the celebration to @printersbeer to continue to camaraderie!!

Thank you @zuckermanmuseum and @cnt_curatorial for showing my work for the last year on the Project Wall! It has been an honor to show alongside @melissaharshman and @vadisturner and to view the visual threads responding to the passage on time, grief, and memorializing.

I have 4 recent works on view in ECHOES : a printmakers pop up, opening Friday May 1, 7-10pm at Kai Lin Art!

🔥It feels good to be in the studio again making work. I know it was so much worse for other artists who lost everything, but the fire put a pause in my practice.

ECHOES imagines a return shaped by interruption in response to En Masse, a printmaking exhibition that was cut short by a tragic fire. Rather than reconstructing what was lost, this exhibition leans into the nature of repetition as something that inevitably shifts, and where traces of the original are visible but are transformed by time, memory, and continuous practice.
The works embody the collective energy of the initial show while acknowledging rupture as part of their evolution. Echoes are not exact replicas. Instead, they distort and reconstruct the original sound that birthed them, leaving space for new meanings and interpretations. In printmaking, this shift emphasizes how each impression holds the potential of both continuation and change. Echoes invites viewers to consider what remains, what is reimagined, and how resilience takes form through making again.

“Pájaro de Lluvia (Rain Bird)”, 11x14” 12 color reduction woodcut from the Print A Bird On It! portfolio organized by @theghostcaptain for the @sgcinternational Portograbondo conference.

Inspired by the Puerto Rican Lizard Cuckoo which is endemic to the island. Nesting high in the trees of the forest, they are frequently heard but rarely seen. Referred to as pájaro de lluvia or pájaro de agua because their call is said to forecast rain. by @stephaniesmithart
