Florence Aria was born 6 days ago, in the wee hours of the morning. She's the sweetest little strawberry and we're so grateful for her. ❤️
Pictured is her second day in the world. With little ones, each day is its own little era. We both feel like we've known her forever already! by @stephenzanephoto

In this weeks episode of the This is a Metaphor Podcast— @stephenzanephoto, owner of the wildly cool @coastalfilmlab, talks about negative film, negative spaces and a positive mindset. As the wildly successful analog film studio in Ybor City is getting closer to its 5th year in business and celebrating a (physically) growing studio space, we talked about the creative brain, and the need to give things room to be. Be it metaphorical or literal—space is a necessity when it comes to any creative pursuit.

Sequence II from the past two years of Derby on the bay.
I spent a week with @webb_norriswebb and one thing that I thoroughly enjoyed getting to learn at a much higher level from them was the art of sequencing - how to order photos together. I think they meant it more for a book but their input works almost as well in an Instagram post.

This exercise prompted me to dig back through these two sets of hundreds of photos and pull new ones out I missed on the first choosing of favorites. Context is super important! taken in St. Pete Pier by @stephenzanephoto

Tampa Bay's Annual Derby watch party was canceled today, so sadly no photos from this years festivities. I went ahead and gathered three collections of favorites from the previous two years as a little recompense.

It's quite the party, I'm sure there are lots of incredible hats wandering beach drive at present. taken in St. Pete Pier by @stephenzanephoto

Mahuffers is back from the dead 🎉 Swipe for photos of pets in places they don't belong.

Some background context - it is a miracle this place is still standing, let alone accepting patrons. Yet, it remains, a sort of lost boys neverland where people of all ages come to listen to live music of widely varying quality and volume in surroundings that could politely be cal#findingflorida

Incidentally, I have sold a bizarre number of prints of the bar cat. If you want the last one dm me!

📸 from the last Coastal Cars & Coffee 🌊

Our 2nd Cars and Coffee was so much fun, tons of neat cars, I'm not a car photographer so I mostly talked with people and snapped a few frames here and there.

My dear Pentax 6x7 is back in the land of the living so very excited to have that in the rotation again.

Tag yourself if you're in here! Love the lil community we're building and can't wait for the next one!! taken in Coastal Film Lab by @stephenzanephoto

For a few days last year, the internet thought this was a GTA trailer.

It wasn’t.

Todd Wiseman brought me on to shoot behind-the-scenes photos on film alongside @coreywoosley for a short film that would eventually be called Six Stars. It’s a sort of post-modern take on the cultural impact of 25 years of GTA, and being on set felt like watching a very specific internet moment being built in real time.

I spent most of the time making portraits of the cast and crew, including working with @milo_machado_, which was such a great experience. Seeing the local creative community show up for this project was the best part.
