We’re thrilled to welcome @stevebays back to ARC as a mentor for this year’s Retreat! After joining us last year, we’re excited to have him return and share his experience, creativity and perspective with this year’s participants.

Steve Bays is a singer, songwriter, producer known for his memorable hooks and electrifying stage presence. As the frontman of Hot Hot Heat. He was at the forefront of the 2000s indie-rock explosion, touring globally and cementing his status as a defining voice in modern rock.

Steve is a four-time Juno Award nominee, a seasoned producer,
engineer, mixer, co-writer, videographer and director. Along with his big hair and eccentric taste, Bays is most certainly a mad scientist of sorts, with a lengthy resume that bridges the past and future of alternative music.

More recently Steve has been pushing on another passion, Bays is launching an exciting new solo chapter of his music career, channeling his restless creativity, melding punchy, hi-fi indie pop with raw, unfiltered energy.

Whether he’s jumping between high octane live shows, filming impromptu music videos, or conducting round the clock recording studio sessions with his global clients, Bays is the kind of artist who tends to feel the most at home when he’s wandering ahead,
chasing the feeling of something yet to be named.

“The best songs you’ll ever make are almost always the ones you made while having fun. So if you’re not having fun.. figure that out first, and then let’s go!”

We’re so excited to have Steve back for another year at the Retreat. With his wealth of experience, unique creative perspective and passion for making music, we know he’ll have plenty to share with this year’s participants. by @stevebays
