Sheds are like snowboarders, always sitting just over the hill where you can’t see them.

When I took these images I was a little too enthralled that I had just found a shed to realize how rare it was to capture a bull and a shed antler in the same frame. And who knows for sure, there's a chance that antler belongs to that bull... I've tried countless times to capture a similar image since I took these shots in 2016 but haven't even come close! But an 85mm or 70-200mm usually comes with me on all my outings just in case. by @stevendrakephoto

If you only shoot from a bench, you're not fully preparing for hunting season.

A shooting bench is great for zeroing your rifle, but good luck finding one when an animal steps out.

Practicing from realistic field positions is one of the best ways to prepare for what you will encounter in the field!

Here are the three shooting positions I find myself using most often while hunting! by @stevendrakephoto

Don’t get left in the dark this hunting season! 🔦

There’s still time to order your @peax_equip Backcountry Duo Headlamp before rifle season kicks off!

I’ve been using this headlamp for the last four years, and I still stand by my statement that it’s the best headlamp ever made. You can’t convince me otherwise! by @stevendrakephoto

If I had to pick one piece of gear I’m most excited to use this rifle season, it’s the new Timberline Pro Jacket from @sitkagear
After years of testing the prototype, I’m pretty dang excited to finally put the finished version to work! by @stevendrakephoto

E-scouting is an incredible tool, but what looks perfect on a map doesn't always translate to reality. There's no substitute for putting boots on the ground and seeing the terrain for yourself.

How many of your “perfect” e-scouting spots turned out to be complete busts? 😂 by @stevendrakephoto

Here it is! My first magazine cover and it’s for @mule_deer_foundation!! Ft. our meowest crew members! 🐱

What makes this cover even more special is that it captures Steven’s first archery mule deer after 8 years of chasing them in the desert, 5 of which I was lucky enough to spend right alongside him.

Knowing just how much time, effort, and persistence went into that moment makes seeing this photo on the cover even more meaningful. Pretty dang cool to have a moment that means so much to both of us make the cover!

Pick yourself up a copy, lots of good things inside! 🦌 by @stevendrakephoto
