STEV ZAR - House | Bass | Dub | Breakbeat | UK Funky | Garage | Mix 04/10/2026

Stev Zar weaves worlds when she performs. She defies conventional genre borders and draws inspiration from diverse musical references, creating a singular and engrossing sound environment. Her distinct percussive and bass-heavy style blends familiar sounds of house and techno with experimental electro and notes of acid and breakbeat folded into the chaos.
The aim is body euphoria, her sets intend to balance playfulness and a tiny bit of chin-stroking to create a sound that deeply resonates with dancefloor champions. Her goal is to challenge her audience to move beyond genre to connect with the heart of the sound. Currently based in Melbourne/Naarm, Stev Zar's work spans DJing, production, and co-curation for UMAMI Collective.

Enjoy, friends! by @stevzar

Mähallä & Capers present Kazdoura ~ Taxídi

A wander. A road trip. A journey from the Middle East along the Mediterranean.

“Kazdoura ~ Taxídi” brings together the rich cultures, sounds and flavours of these interconnected regions through a special collaboration between Capers, the Cypriot-Greek bar and restaurant in Thornbury, and Mähallä, a collective dedicated to connecting SWANA and Mediterranean communities in Naarm.

For one special night, Capers will be transformed into two distinct spaces, guiding guests on a cultural journey from day into night — through music, food, celebration and shared diasporic traditions. Kazdoura (كزدورة) means a leisurely wander. Ταξίδι (Taxídi) means a trip.

The day begins with bring-your-own chess boards with guests invited to settle in for a game hosted by @___mschess alongside pita pockets by Capers (kitchen).

Out in the garden, The Kismet Project will set the tone with a stacked line-up of live music throughout the day, including a special performance from Greek hyperpop-electronic duo @baby_ouzo

As day turns to night, the journey continues with DJs spanning SWANA and Mediterranean sounds, featuring Aysu, Smoochie, DJ Matab, Polat, DJ Moi, Luqman & Anahita, Disco Mediterranea, and headliner for the night, STEV ZAR.

Come wander with us — eat, listen, dance, play and celebrate the connections that bring these cultures together.

Capers 843 High St, Thornbury
Saturday 5th of September
4pm–3am
🎟️ Tickets ($15) via our bio or on the Darebin FUSE Festival website.

A huge thank you to @oo_o_ooh_o_m_mm_a_aa_rr_r for this incredible poster.

What does body euphoria feel like?

For Stev Zar, you can see it happen.

A crowd starts moving. People smile, cheer and lose themselves in the music. The energy travels back to the DJ, who uses it to decide where the journey goes next.

Because for Stev, a great DJ set is not about delivering another dopamine hit every two seconds.

“For me, it’s about the journey.”

Ahead of Supersonic at Illuminate Adelaide, Stev Zar joined The Arts Garden to talk about the physical connection between DJ and dance floor, why percussion can move an entire room, the art of building a night, and the community that holds dance music culture together.

Curated by Motez, Supersonic brings Stev Zar together with Skin On Skin, moktar, Soju Gang and KHUEVO for one night at Hindley Street Music Hall.

📍 Hindley Street Music Hall
📅 Saturday 18 July

⚡ Stev Zar 9pm

What’s the last track that made you completely lose track of time?

Drop it below. We may find some new music for The Arts Garden. 👇
