Living in Shetland has certainly rearranged my expectations and priorities around a lot of things.

I’m still getting to know the place and how different life is up here compared to what I’m used to.

But I’m growing more accustomed to things everyday, and I feel so lucky I get to call this my little life ✨ 🌊

There’s a few new faces around here recently, so I thought it was only right to reintroduce myself 🤍

Back when I lived in Yorkshire, I was working full-time in management alongside doing a degree. I had very little time for much else, and I constantly found myself craving something different. Like a change of scenery, a slower pace, just… something.

I never imagined that “something different” would eventually mean moving to Shetland, but here we are 🥹

This last year has been a complete change of lifestyle, work, scenery and pretty much everything in between. There’s been a lot of adapting to island life, plenty of figuring things out as I go, and so many moments that I probably wouldn’t have experienced if I’d stayed where I was.

And this little corner of the internet has given me a way to document it all, which I’ve absolutely loved. From the big changes in my life, to the everyday bits of life in Shetland… I’ve really loved having somewhere to share it all. And I hope you’ve enjoyed following along too.

Thank you for being here. Over the last year I’ve met some brilliant people, both through living in Shetland and through this page, and I’m genuinely so grateful to everyone who has chosen to follow along on this slightly unexpected journey with me.

St Ninian’s Isle is one of those places that makes my brain go quiet. The beach is beautiful, but walking beyond it and sitting by the sea is my favourite part.

I still can’t believe this is right on my doorstep.

A cup of tea, the edge of a cliff and a very windy day in Shetland…

I went up to watch the fulmars flying along the cliffs and ended up sitting there far longer I planned to. On days like these they barely need to flap their wings, just using the strong wind rising off the cliffs to glide, soar and drift about 💨

There’s something very special about watching wildlife that’s so completely at home in the Shetland weather 🥹

Brb just sobbing whilst I edit this one.

I moved to Shetland nearly a year ago and knew absolutely nobody besides my boyfriend and his parents.

But I very quickly met Bess on a walk from the house, and for the past 11 months she has become the best little pal. She is always waiting to greet me with a whole load of love no matter what day.

She is a testament to breed, and her lovely owners, and I’m going to miss walking down for a cuddle SO MUCH.

She really is the BESSt girl ever 🥹❤️
