The January meeting for @stitchlines_ was about using your inspiration and working on something with a raised / in relief surface.

In my sketchbook I've got various drawings of the Edwardian lace collar that belonged to my grandma and have used a couple of them to inspire my samples. More still to do on them so wip!

What has become our annual Christmas trip out with @stitchlines_ to @whitworthart

Santiago Yahiarcani - The Beginning of Knowledge. The first international solo exhibition by Yahuarcani - Indigenous activist, artist and leader of the Aimeni (White Heron) clan of the Uitoto people.

His work uses natural dyes and is painted on Ilanchama, traditional bark cloth made from the renaco tree.

The detail in each piece was fascinating, the more you looked the more you saw. Stories, traditions, history.

Delicious lunch as always in the cafe too.
