The January meeting for @stitchlines_ was about using your inspiration and working on something with a raised / in relief surface.

In my sketchbook I've got various drawings of the Edwardian lace collar that belonged to my grandma and have used a couple of them to inspire my samples. More still to do on them so wip!

Still using the shared fabrics from @stitchlines_ this is one of 4 which has been stitched and then over dyed. This one is with Coreopsis and I plan to stitch back into each one again. #textileartist #textileart #handstitch #handstitched #handstiching #naturaldyedfabric #coreopsisdye #naturaldyersofinstagram #sharedfabric #textilegroup

The latest challenge with @stitchlines_ is to work with each others choice of fabric. We all have three pieces from everyone and are looking at ways to vary them. Watch this space!

Christmas trip out to @whitworthart with @stitchlines_ Part two is There's No Place - Jakkai Siributr
'My works are about bringing unheard voices to the forefront, or issues that are not often spoken about '
Again the narrative beside each piece is important to show the context.
Changing Rooms invites you to try on the jackets and skull caps a rare occurrence to be able to touch textiles.
Have a look at Jakkai's story @jakkai

Christmas trip out to @whitworthart with @stitchlines_ This will have to be two posts as there was so much to inspire us.
First are images from Bring Here - Barbara Walkers first major exhibition. My photos don't do her beautiful figurative work justice.
The narrative that goes with each piece is important to put the image in context. If you're not familiar with her work please do some research on her. @barbarawalkerstudio

Following on from the @stitchlines_ post, I've been playing with acrylics on different papers using the Palestinian embroidery theme. #sketchbookart #sketchbook #sketchbookplay #acrylicprints #palestinianembroideryinspired #geometricpatterns #thepowerofred #referencematerial #traces
