Tanzyn Crawford @tanzyncrawford is used to being able to walk down the street unrecognised, save for a few times in LA when she was starring in #TinyBeautifulThings, opposite Kathryn Hahn. But the #Perth actor’s profile is about to skyrocket, as her face is beamed into millions of households worldwide on the anticipated #GameOfThrones spin-off, A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms. And in a STM shoot at Guildhall in North #Fremantle, Crawford’s star power was on full display, styled by STM stylist Megan French @thefrenchfawn, in clothing from some of Perth’s talented graduate designers.

Crawford tells Clare Rigden that she’s nervous, but mostly excited for the show to start on January 19. The series, from Game Of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin and producer Ira Parker, based on Martin’s popular novellas, tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a knight, Ser Duncan “Dunk” The Tall (Peter Claffey) and his young squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) as they travell across Westeros. Crawford plays Tansell, a tall, witty Dornish puppeteer and Dunk’s love interest. Crawford says she came to acting in a roundabout way; auditioning for WAAPA when she was two years into a science degree, in solidarity with a friend who wanted to try out. “I loved #WAAPA,” she said. “I understand why people come from all over to study there — it was such a good education. It changed the course of my life.” Read the full story in #STMPerth.

When STM’s first edition hit the streets early in 2004, Rebecca Twigley’s life was sweet and pretty simple. Newly 21, she had just switched degrees to study speech pathology and she was a few months into dating West Coast superstar Chris Judd, after a classic Perth love story involving meeting at Club Bay View and later, a Sunday session kiss at the Cottesloe Beach Hotel. But by the time STM’s first anniversary rolled around, things looked very different— courtesy of a daring, red Ruth Tarvydas dress, worn to the Brownlow Medal later in 2004, as Judd won the AFL’s best-and-fairest award for the first time. Looking back on it, now Bec Judd and juggling a media career with parenting the couple’s four children, it was a sliding doors moment she didn’t see coming. As #STMPerth celebrates its 21st year, Judd flew home to Perth for a special shoot, exclusive interview and to guest edit the magazine, choosing party looks from local designers for fashion and giving her top #WA tips in STM Loves. See all the photos and read the story inside STM this weekend.

Creamy stone, soft boucle and warm timber make a beautiful combination in this #diningroom, where sculptural furniture and fresh-cut garden greenery set the scene for a long, leisurely lunch. In this weekend’s #HomeEdit, Castlery global brand ambassador Steve Cordony, who designed and styled the sophisticated space, shares how to create a tablescape that invites guests right in, making them feel cherished the moment they arrive. by @stmperth

Food reviewer Jade Jurewicz’s last succulent Chinese meal had been off a bustling Melbourne laneway, on a plastic chair, a lazy Susan packed with dishes ordered off a seemingly endless menu with pictures. Her family did what they do best: ordered until the table disappeared under plates piled high with noodles, proteins and dumplings, then decided one extra fried rice wouldn’t hurt. At @chowstable in #Yallingup, the table next to her is enjoying a bottle of wine from the cellar door she glimpses from her spot on the sun-soaked veranda. Kids are cartwheeling across the manicured lawn. Dishes arrive aesthetically plated in delicate Qinghua bowls and handmade ceramic vessels. Safe to say this is not your typical Chinese-Malay restaurant. Read the full review in this weekend’s #STMPerth. by @stmperth

Perth-raised tenor @alasdairkent has sung his way from Mt Lawley to Naples' Teatro di San Carlo, the oldest continuously active opera venue in the world. Now he's back with @westaustralianopera to sing Romeo for the first time, opposite Samantha Clarke in Gounod's French-sung Romeo et Juliette. He tells Tanya MacNaughton why he agrees the opera is one long love duet, and why the Indian Ocean turning silver after sunset feels like home.

In a week’s time, Matt Shirvington will hopefully be enjoying a well-deserved lie-down. Between now and then he’ll host Sunrise, front Seven’s coverage of the #RugbyLeagueWorldCup opener, squeeze in some shut-eye, more Sunrise and then fly to Perth for a massive weekend of sport and #Telethon. Luckily, as he tells Ben Smith in our cover story, one of Australia’s fastest ever sprinters has learnt how to go the distance. Read the full story in Sunday’s #STMPerth.

When The New York Times met #SiennaMiller outside her hotel, a photographer was already waiting, a reminder of the attention that has followed her since her late teens. Now starring in HBO's War, one of the hottest series of the year, she says she didn't feel confident in her craft until she played Edie Sedgwick in Factory Girl, and that motherhood finally saw her taken seriously. She talks about the "hazy blur" of her paparazzi years, the push for respect, and why, at 44, life is pretty wonderful.

Following 14 British children for an astonishing 63 years and checking in with them every seven years through the entirety of their lives, 70 Up is an unbelievable undertaking. As @screen_queen_clare writes this week, what began as a one-off film now, six decades on, is finished up with an incredible film on SBS. Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia has stepped in for the late Michael Apted, catching up with the show’s participants for a beautiful, bittersweet, and deeply emotional watch. Also in #TV this week: #SexEducation’s Asa Butterfield stars in homegrown horror-comedy series #Gnomes on Stan about a small Aussie town besieged by. . . killer garden gnomes. And the big man of horror himself, #StephenKing, is aboard as an executive producer on the reimagining of his 1974 novel Carrie, streaming on Prime Video. by @stmperth

Savoury pies are good, but sweet pies are better - it’s one of the few hills food reviewer Megan French will die on. So when a photo of @angelwood.pies’s banoffee special slid across her Instagram feed recently, it landed straight in her saved folder, and she quickly roped in a brother-in-law with a long-held affection for pies to join to ensure the savoury side gets a fair hearing. And what they both found at the unassuming joint in Leederville won over both camps. Read the full #foodreview in this weekend’s #STMPerth

Known for his empathetic style, Australian documentary maker #MarcFennell usually avoids ruffling feathers. But his eye-opening new series on the modern male identity crisis could spark a national reckoning. In this weekend’s #STMPerth, the podcaster and #TV presenter speaks with @screen_queen_clare about The State Of Man, a three-part series that takes a deep-dive into the contentious world of the #manosphere.
