Saturday, 2nd October, City of Stoke’s U18 Women scored a brilliant win taking gold at the English Road Running Association’s National Relay Championship. The team was made up of Holly on 1st leg, Lexi on 2nd leg and Zara on the final leg. Zara also secured the win for the fastest individual leg in her race.
The club’s young athletes made an excellent showing over the different age group races. Our U14 boys achieved a fantastic 6th place out of 70. We had at least 1 team with some B teams too in 4 of the young athlete age categories and a senior women’s team made up of U20s women. All teams performed fantastically against the best clubs in the country who all had to qualify in regional races to take part. A superb performance from our young endurance athletes. One other stand out performance was from Seb who ran the fastest leg in his race, taking back an amazing 40 places.
A brilliant day for the club. Congratulations to all of you ❤️🤍🖤 by @stokeac

❤️🤍🖤Congratulations Zara ❤️🤍🖤
A huge congratulations to Zara on her outstanding 3000m performance of 9:49.62, continuing her excellent season as one of the club’s standout U16 endurance athletes.
This superb run now places Zara 7th in the UK U16’s Rankings… highlighting what has been a truly phenomenal season. With the recent age group changes, this performance puts her firmly on track to secure the Record Set title at the end of the season.
Well done, Zara, on another fantastic achievement. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings! 🙌🙌 by @stokeac

Fantastic team effort at Gloucester last Sunday in the senior track&field. We took a minibus down which made for a great squad atmosphere. Throws: Harrison threw discus and smashed his pb twice in the Javelin, Matt got in the scoring too. Morris was back, doing what he does best in shot, discus and hammer then Hayley and Lydia threw all 4 events, winning A and B in discus!
Sprints: Caden, Mako, Theo, Liv and Abbey all doubling up in 100m and 200m, high standards!! Niamh ran a good 200m then beat her PB in the 400m.
Distance: Lewis, Euan and Lino frankly dominated the races in 400 and 800, Aidan and Aston battled the heat I the 1500m and Matt just about survived the 3000m.
Jumps: Liv and Harrison did great in long jump, Harrison then starred with a win in pole vault!
Was so proud of our relays, Lewis, Caden, Theo, Lino in 4x1, Niamh, Abbey, Lino and Lewis in a thrilling 4x4.
Special thanks to officials Louise, Mel, Adrian and Lee and Hayley for sorting and driving the bus.
All aboard for the Stoke meet on 29th Aug!! ⚫️⚪️🔴 by @stokeac

City of Stoke Veterans 2026 Midland Track and Field League campaign came to a close with another strong showing in the final fixture at Sutton Coldfield.

Colin Bishop was a new addition to the team this season, and has been one of the club’s standout performers. He’s competed in all four fixtures, and once again delivered a huge number of points with first a season’s best in the 800m, followed up by a new personal best in the 3000m.

Jo Donnelly and Mandy Vernon have been the backbone to the women’s team and can always be relied upon to cover multiple events. This time around it was a menu of 200m, 800m and 3000m, with each athlete contributing a whopping 18 points each!

Key to the squad’s success has been taking on the challenge of tackling a new event. Phil Rowley can now add the title of ‘race walker’ to his list of accolades, after taking over a minute off his personal best over the one mile distance.

Despite not being able to compete this summer Louise Dawson has officiated at every single meeting. A change of scene she has enjoyed, but fingers cross we’ll see her return to the role of athlete next summer.

If you are a club member who missed out of the fixtures this season we would love to hear from you ahead of 2027. All ages and abilities are welcome, with opportunities to compete and/or officiate available. by @stokeac

July has been a good month for the endurance runners . The beginning of July saw Lewis doing his first ever national competition in Bedford in the 800m . It wasn’t expected he would reach the finals as he was up against some solid competition. But after a scrappy race of pushing and shoving and been forced to the back , he fought so hard and came an incredible third place to qualify for the finals the next day . he went into the finals as the outsider , but as lewis does he fought hard and although that heat was still hurting , he came a brilliant 7th place .
This weekend has seen three of the lads who were selected for the younger age group nationals again in Bedford .
Luke in the 800m ran a very controlled heat and comfortably qualified for the finals the next day . He went into the finals with a gutsy attitude which saw him take to the front early on , however he got tripped a couple of times which threw him off his momentum slightly , he fought very hard to the finish and came an incredible 3rd place 🥉 in his first ever nationals and only a dip away from 2nd .
Lino ran in the 400m . He ran in heats and semis on the same day which comfortably saw him into the finals the following day . He ran strong and came a fantastic 5th place overall but got the gold medal 🥇 in his age category after a very mixed year which is an incredible achievement and hugely deserved .
We then had Joe who was selected for the 3000m - he has only ever run one 3k ever and qualified for nationals , today he went in as the slowest on paper but came a magnificent 9th out of 14! What an achievement.
I am very proud that this year we had four athletes all male national finals and out of the four two got medals ! Well done lads 💪💪 by @stokeac
