It is necessary to defend the territories, but also the rights of the people, their sovereignty and popular political projects. The struggle against the TNCs demands today more than ever to develop, promote and defend a popular political project that allows us to dispute not only the territories, but the political arena from a class, anti-capitalist, anti-racist, feminist, anti-colonial and anti-imperialist perspective. Today, when the transnationals amass and exercise more economic, political and cultural power than many States, even developed ones, and when their power to capture the State and multilateral institutions has reached limits that were until recently unthinkable, popular mobilization is an indispensable condition, but not sufficient if it is not expressed in political force to transform our democracies into truly emancipatory political systems. Only the construction of participatory popular political projects will offer certain possibilities of shielding us – the public and the State – from the various forms of appropriation and “corporate capture”. // [ES] Es necesario defender los territorios, pero también los derechos de los pueblos, su soberanía y los proyectos políticos populares. In order to dismantle the power of the transnational corporations and end their impunity, and thus recover our popular sovereignty, we must put up organized popular resistance to the advance of the reactionary, capitalist, oligarchic, patriarchal, misogynist, racist, xenophobic, religious fundamentalist, and even fascist right throughout the world, and displace these reactionary forces from governments. Thus, it is key to build unity around a popular political project to end the appropriation of TNCs. // Para desmantelar el poder de las transnacionales y terminar con su impunidad, y así recuperar nuestra soberanía popular, debemos oponer resistencia popular organizada al avance de la derecha reaccionaria, capitalista, oligárquica, patriarcal, misógina, racista, xenófoba, fundamentalista religiosa e incluso fascista en todo el mundo, y desplazar a estas fuerzas reaccionarias de los gobiernos. The Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity (Global Campaign) is a network of over 250 social movements, civil society organisations (CSOs), trade unions and communities affected by the activities of Transnational Corporations (TNCs). These groups resist land grabs, extractive mining, exploitative wages and environmental destruction caused by TNCs globally but particularly in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. We’re a peoples global structural response to unaccountable corporate power which provides facilitation for dialogue, strategizing, exchanging information and experiences, acting as a space for visibility of resistance and deepening of solidarity and support for struggles against TNCs. // La Campaña Global para Reivindicar la Soberanía de los Pueblos, Desmantelar el Poder Corporativo y Poner Fin a la Impunidad es una coalición de 250 movimientos sociales, redes y organizaciones, así como campañas de denuncia de empresas específicas, activas en diferentes sectores, regiones y países. We live in a deeply unequal global economic system, where transnational corporations amass incalculable wealth whilst making working conditions precarious and evading taxes that should fund essential public services. Through financial power and political influence, these companies place private interests above peoples and labour rights. Economic justice demands a radical transformation of these structures of exploitation, ensuring human rights take precedence over investor rights. The 12th session for a UN Binding Treaty has officially closed! After a long week of political formation and negotiations at the United Nations, with a delegation of affected communities, movements and organizations from all over the world, the struggle for a strong Binding Treaty continues. The fight against corporate impunity and for access to justice for the communities affected by corporate human rights violations will be carried forward in the territories. For 12 years, social movements, trade unions, and affected communities from around the world have been mobilising within the United Nations to end corporate impunity. The power imbalance between victims and corporations is overwhelming, leaving communities to face endless legal barriers and threats while companies operate without borders. This architecture of impunity cannot continue any longer. Democracy does not belong to corporate lobbies or big business interests; democracy belongs to the people. Yet today we witness the corporate capture of public institutions, where transnational corporations use their economic power to pressure governments, manipulate laws, and silence the will of communities in favour of destructive projects. When organised communities exercise their right to consultation and say no to devastating projects, their decisions must be protected. Transnational corporations like Chevron, Total, Mekorot and Palantir are complicit in the genocide against the Palestinian people and in the ecocide in Palestine. This forms part of a global economic system that is actively sacrificing peoples and the planet in the name of profit. By demonstrating in solidarity with the Palestinian people, we recognise that there can be no environmental justice without a #FreePalestine. Peasant, Indigenous, Black, and working-class women are on the front lines of the severe impacts of expanding corporate power. The extractivist model not only destroys territories and contaminates vital water sources, but disproportionately burdens women with care work and intensifies patriarchal violence. Popular feminism teaches us that the body and the territory form an inseparable unit of resistance and survival.
