"I'm not going anywhere!"

Last week, the FEC coalition along with other public housing tenants and allies disrupted the NYCHA Board meeting. This meeting was to push forward with the demolition of the Fulton and Elliott-Chelsea houses. Even though NYCHA "allowed" tenants to speak it's very obvious that they have made up their minds. NYCHA wants to demolish FEC and displace working class black and Hispanic tenants.

The press conference held outside the board meeting was for the public to hear our voices and bring attention to this situation. Above are just some of the speakers. Please listen to each one.

The working class and minorities are under attack. If it's not our jobs and wages, then it's our homes, voting rights, healthcare and schools. And the ruling class won't stop unless we fight back. Little by little we are building a coalition to stop FEC from demolition and to stop the privatization of public housing all together. But the fight can't end there.

The battle to keep our homes needs to be linked to gaining power. If we don't struggle for something more than the crumbs thrown at us, we will continue to have everything snatched from our hands. by @stopfecdemolition

On Wednesday, September 23rd, show up to support the tenants of Fulton & Elliott-Chelsea Houses at the NYCHA Board Meeting.

Tenants will be speaking out against the demolition and privatization of their homes, and we need as many allies as possible to come and stand in solidarity with them!!!!!

We are raising funds to protect public housing residents fighting to save their homes in Chelsea’s Fulton and Elliott-Chelsea Houses from being demolished.

Our goal is to raise $95,000 for lawyers to represent the tenants in the first two buildings targeted for demolition.

As supporters, you will become part of a united group of FEC tenants, Chelsea community members, and local organizations fighting to save public housing.

RECORDING REVEALS PRESSURE CAMPAIGN TO REMOVE FULTON RESIDENTS

The Save Chelsea Public Housing Coalition today released a recording of a redevelopment meeting in which representatives involved in the proposed demolition of Fulton and Elliott-Chelsea Houses openly discuss pressuring residents to relocate and sign new Section 8 leases.

The recording captures a stark contradiction: residents are repeatedly told that nobody is forcing them to sign, while speakers describe eviction, loss of subsidy, market rent, administrative proceedings and efforts to find a legal means of forcing households from their apartments.

The displacers featured in the video are:
