Deeds Magazine Cover Unveiling with Michael Rainey Jr @michaelraineyjr ✨
Kicking off New York Fashion Week in style at the ultimate party, hosted by none other than @deedsmagazine @thegeniezcollective @thelotusfirm

What a time to be alive ✨. Enjoying dinner at @kokomonyc, listening to the beautiful speeches and heartfelt toasts given to Michael Rainey Jr. and his team, I knew I was among true artists and visionaries. Grateful for the love, the inspiration, and the opportunity to witness it all. Thank you @deedsmagazine for creating such a special moment 🥂.

✨💜A new era is upon us. I am so excited to get this old energy up off me. I’m truly leveling up every part of my life right now mind, body and spirit. All things that no longer serve me MUST go. I started my locs in 2011 and after spending over a decade together I am excited for the rebirth of (Amelia). The greatest lessons I have learned so far this year in my level up journeys are:

✨1. Always choose yourself first.
✨2. Stay away from environments that don’t match your energy or effort.
✨3. Where you are going everyone can’t follow. What God has planned for you is for you.
✨4. Change is good.
✨5. Start scared, but just start!

CLEAR THE DRAFTS! 📱✨ I used to own a fire five-chair salon, and so much of that chapter is still hiding in my phone.

Come behind the scenes as I share the memories, the lessons, and more of my life. I’m celebrating what I built while making room for the next version of Stormie Roots and Rooted Salons. 🤎

I attract my ideal clients by showing up as myself and making room for them to do the same. Healthy hair, real connection, and a space where you feel cared for. That’s the experience in my chair. 🤎

Give yourself some credit, sis. 👏🏾 Running a business, keeping a roof over your head, and putting money aside takes work, discipline, and clients who trust you.

You might still be working toward your bigger goals, but the stability you’re building deserves to be celebrated, too.

Send this to a hairstylist who needs a reminder: you’re doing better than you think. 🤎

If you ever thought about starting a business and working for yourself just now the people that make it to the finish line are the ones that don’t quick the elders use to call it staying power. All winner have learned to “suffer well”. I just keep showing up and trust that god will provide.

1. Keep the clients you already have. Follow up, stay consistent, and give them a reason to trust you with their hair for years.

2. Know your numbers. A full book means very little if you don’t know what you earn after supplies, rent, taxes, and help.

3. Price for a sustainable career. Your rates need to support your life and the quality of care you provide.

4. Protect your body. Take breaks, set a schedule, and get help before exhaustion starts making decisions for you.

5. Keep learning. Trends change, products change, and your clients’ needs change. Stay a student of your craft.

6. Let people see your expertise. Share your results, your knowledge, and the way you care for clients. Your reputation can open doors beyond the chair.
