For many years I did not hang my work in my home. I thought (think) it’s often an awkward and embarrassing gesture. But that changed when I made a set of abstract color field panels that I knew would find no better home than ours … so we hung them in the dining room.

Earlier this summer @mrblasbe visited my studio and saw this portrait of my brother, Cam and said, “What is this doing here? Let’s bring it home!” I quickly agreed. We added Cam to the music room yesterday - and I’m so happy to see him here.

Excited to show my largest drawing to date with @pdxcontemporaryart for the inaugural - Assembly Art Fair in Seattle, next week. Located in the West Canal Yards, the fair is open to the public July 23-26. Private opening night festivities, July 22. Inquire with @assemblyfair for ticket info.

It’s the 30th anniversary of PDX Contemporary Art!

Jane Beebe is a mind- blower-dream-maker . . .
and to every person that has worked with, helped and supported this cultural treasure - thank you from the bottom of my heart. What a beautiful and significant corner of my life. I am eternally grateful. Happy anniversary to Jane and MJ and Sam and Nathan. Huge thanks.

This big drawing has been pulled out of storage to celebrate this event and participate in the summer group show, Mixed Flock.

Blessed Boys ( After Bernini), is a recreation of Joel Przybilla and Tim Duncan from the 2009 NBA basketball playoffs via the front page of The Oregonian. The photograph reminded me of The Rape of Prosperina by Gian Lorenzo Bernini - and thus the title.

SASH 🖤

A few weeks ago I started making tassels - for no better reason than to satisfy curiosity and pleasure.

Around that time I was thinking about The Kennedy Center Honors and how the current administration had desecrated the organization in a series of blows. One of which, the abandonment of the rainbow ribbon in the medals design - an element I had grown to love.

With The Kennedy Center in my rear view and my loved ones on my holiday horizon, I gave home to those tassels and made a series of sashes in honor of my friends and family. I suppose, my version of love, loyalty courage and creativity in these very confusing times.

I wish the best to you all.
May the future shine brightly and colorfully.

These heirloom chrysanthemums are blowing my mind. And saving my mind. Thank god. Much needed. I love how structural and sturdy they are yet so juicy and obscene. Favorite Flower? I think so.

Diane Keaton 🙏🏽

I shall not explain the depths of my appreciation. Except to say - My parents asked me how I wanted to celebrate my 7th birthday (1977) and I insisted that I had to see Annie Hall. They tried to sway me to do otherwise, but I was determined.

We were a movie-going family and I recall my mom exclaiming the greatness of the film. This was the year of Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind and my mom’s enthusiasm fascinated me; I needed to understand. So my parents obliged and took me to Annie Hall.
