2023 May * "Oregon: The State Of Art" Murdoch Collections Gallery @murdochcollections #murdochcollections #oregonartists #portlandgalleries #arthubportland #arthubportland.1 #artpdx #pdxarts ( Sequential Images @arthubportland.1 )

"...With my work, a pendulum swings between painstaking figurative endeavors and lighter, more improvisational works. With the figurative and representational works, there is the labor and the drafting, the mistakes and the improvements. However with the improvisational bodies of work, there is more abandon. It’s athletic and gutsy. These bodies of work are often distillations of technique or skill, pushed beyond rigid control and imbue lightness and levity to the page. For years I have been working serially, in which both modes of practice are at play. When these methods saddle up to one another, a new language is revealed and a broader interpretation of aesthetics, narrative and abstraction unfolds. The chemistry between images excites me and more accurately represents how I interact with the world..." - Storm Tharp @stormtharp #stormtharp #stormtharpart

Looking back at some of the people who have opened their homes to us for Nester magazine. In just a few weeks, we’ll introduce you to five new neighbors whose homes show just how personal—and expressive —a home can be.

The new Nester magazine launches at NestFest.

Assembly Art Fair was a welcome change of pace. Thoughtfully curated and more like a collection of exhibitions rather than a series of booths. Big ups to all who put it together. A few highlights…

So much action / so many paintings! A great afternoon spent at the new Assembly Art Fair! West Canal Yards is the perfect architectural setting. It was very cool to see a new take on the art fair model. 👏 @assemblyfair @travergallery

Checking out @assemblyfair this weekend taking place at West Canal Yards, an adaptive reuse project designed by GBA that transforms a former fish processing and freezer facility into flexible, light-filled spaces for makers and maritime uses along Seattle’s Ship Canal.

On view through this Sunday, “in place of a conventional booth layout, Assembly unfolds as a series of exhibitions; each gallery with its own unique space, allowing for intimate encounters with art and meaningful dialogue between artists, curators, and collectors.” Link in bio for 🎟️ and more info.

Congratulations to the seventeen west coast galleries and the numerous talented artists who are part of Assembly this year!
