🎵 WHEN DID MUSIC BECOME DISPOSABLE?

We have more music available to us than ever before, but are we actually appreciating it?

There was a time when buying an album was an investment. You spent your hard-earned money, explored the artwork, studied the credits, discovered the bonus tracks, and lived with that music.

Now, millions of songs are a click away, and sometimes we treat them like social media posts. If they don’t grab us immediately, we scroll to the next one.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the accessibility streaming has given us.

But I wonder if we’ve traded some of our connection to music for convenience.

So here’s my question:

When you press play, are you just CONSUMING CONTENT, or are you APPRECIATING ART?

I want to hear your perspective. Has streaming changed the way you value music?

What was the BEST part of buying physical music?

Was it knowing you were directly supporting an artist whose music was part of your everyday life?

Was it the BONUS CONTENT? The artwork, lyrics, behind-the-scenes information, exclusive tracks, and all the extras that made an album more than just music?

Or was it the EXCLUSIVITY? Owning something rare that couldn’t be streamed, downloaded, or bought anymore. If somebody wanted to hear it, they had to find someone who actually OWNED it!

Physical music wasn’t just something you listened to. It was something you experienced, collected, and shared.

I’m curious… which of these three meant the most to YOU? Or was there something else?

Before social media, artists were building connections through music, artwork, packaging, performances, and experiences.

The platforms changed. The responsibility didn’t.

Content is not a new idea just a new term. We created “content” before your favorite content creator ever existed. Social media has increased the reach in a lot of areas, but it hasn’t replaced the need for hand-to-hand interactions and genuine connections. I encourage you to go find a piece of content from one of your favorite artist today and make it a piece that’s in your collection forever get something physical get something rare get something that can’t be deleted taken in The Chicagoland Area by @str8barzzz
