Egg glair on canvas, using both my handmade pigments, and the leftover sand from the pigment making process.

Currently hanging @ipswichcommunitygallery as part of the @ipsariinc exhibition "A View From Here".
It's on until September 27, so visit if you can because there's an absolutely fascinating array of artworks on display in many mediums and even some on fabric! 🤩

This guy is not my most favourite painting I've ever made, but I'm proud of it for hanging amongst the other artworks by wonderful local artists, and not feeling too out of place. by @strange_chroma

My current colour obsession: these stunning pigments I bought in Bologna in July. 🤩
I was finally able to make them into paint and I love them so much I haven't even made up paints from any of my other new pigments. 😂 by @strange_chroma

And then there were three. 😊

The slate from my previous post, another pale stone I also found in my sister's courtyard, and an old piece of brick dug up by the roadworks around the corner. Suddenly I've made a whole collection of pigments while on my holiday. 😆 by @strange_chroma

Made some pigment in the UK at my sister's place using some little chips of slate I found in her yard.
I never expected to process pigments while I'm on my holiday, so it makes it even more special that it's so connected to my sister and her home which I am always so grateful that she extends to me when I'm here. 🖤 by @strange_chroma

Yesterday my sister took me to beautiful Portsmouth where we visited @hotwallsstudios' open day.
My main purpose of course was to see @londonpigment and she was so lovely! She showed me many amazing things (I saw oak galls for the first time!) and we maybe geeked out a little bit together on pigments and processing. I'm so grateful for Lucy's generosity and also have been super grateful for her expertise since buying her pigment book. I could have stayed there forever!

I also visited @frankie_brown_illustration and wanted to buy everything, but had to be sensible and just bought some gorgeously cute little stickers.

This trip has been so different from my usual hermit journeys. I've been meeting so many wonderful people and having endlessly fascinating experiences. by @strange_chroma

50!

This last decade has been some of the best but also some of the worst times of my life, and I really don't think 40 year old me would have believed what 50 year old me's life is like. 😆

Anyway, ready for this new chapter of life and looking forward to what it brings that will surprise 60 year old me when I get there. 😂 by @strange_chroma

I think this is my favourite mixed pigment paint I've made so far!
It's made up of two thirds commercial pigments, and one third hand ground pigment.
The colour looked a lot more blueish before it dried, so I thought about calling it "Deep Ocean", but now it might need to be called " Deep Forest". 😂
Or maybe "Shadowed Forest". 🤔 by @strange_chroma

This week's paint making adventures.
New binder formula, new pigments.
Currently have a new batch of Vivianite Green drying in the sun, alongside my very first experiments with processing Red Jasper (that my Dad found for me while fossicking!), and Sodalite.
Plus I've been working hard making up lots of paints before I leave for Italy next week. I'm really excited to gift some to a friend and hopefully play with paint together! by @strange_chroma

I've been working on a little prize package for the @t4t_flashday this coming weekend.
The paints are all handmade with my vegan binder recipe, and consist of eight paints using my favourite hand crushed and processed stone and crystal pigments, plus four basic primaries.
I wanted the prize winner to be able to have fun with these even if they've never painted before, so I also included a synthetic bristle paintbrush, some little palettes, and my first ever handmade sketchbook!
The sketchbook uses the beautiful Baohong Master's Choice rough 100% cotton paper, stitched together with my hand dyed cotton thread, and one of my abstract paintings as the cover.
I had so much fun making this prize and I really hope the winner will have even more fun experimenting with these paints.
